I have been getting alot of vibration/rattling out of my interior driver side door directly related to the bass from the stereo. Even at low volume there is some rattling. Anybody know what this is and what the fix might be ?

There's a TSB for this. It can be the window actuator sometimes. When they fix it you will then get a greasy strak on your window and have to go back for another TSB to correct that. Somehow now I have a streak on my back window.

There is a way to fix this. Pull the door panel off and tape
the loose wires down. There are many things you can do to
quiet down the door rattles. Some time ago there was a nice
pictorial on removing the door panel, applying tape or
insulation to various wires. I did this to all four of
my doors and have little to no noise from them. You surely
want to tape all the speaker wires down as this is a sure
source of rattles.

Make sure it isn't your door handle. My passenger side door handle vibrates very badly when the bass is even at moderate levels

depending on what the problem actually is it may be wise to look up past issuesa witht eh window actuator before you get the dealer involved. You may be able to tell between wires moving around and the actuator noises which are not consistent with what cato describes. Those issues as he describes them will prob not be solved very well by the dealer.

I had the same exact problem after I first got my G35...If it's still under warranty (which I assume it is) then just go to your Infiniti service dept. and describe the rattles/buzzing; let them hear the buzzing by turning up the volume! Then, tell them that other dealers have fixed the problem by doing what cato had mentioned (i.e. removing the door panels and putting felt (or another type of insulation) in and around the wires, etc. This is what my dealer's service dept. did for me, and I rarely hear any more buzzing/rattles when I turn my stereo up! Just make sure you get a good technician who has done this before to do it for you,a nd you should be all set. ;-) The fact is this $35k+ car should not rattle or "buzz" when you turn the stereo up loud...it should be nice and tight, and any buzzing or rattlng is covered by your warranty, and should be fixed by the dealer!

I get the buzz/tick/rattle with bass heavy songs - but even worse is the damn tick/tick noise that comes from the rear driver's side door panel (just under the rear door handle) when driving over rough streets - it's just sooooo annoying! But I am dubious about asking Infiniti to pull the door panels and fix it - I have heard some people say they wound up with more rattles than they started out with!

 

Your call, but frankly, I had the same buzzing and rattles in the 2 front doors with heavy bass songs at a volume of 16 or higher (my bass is set to 3 and my treble is set to 5), and that to me just unexceptable for this caliper vehicle. So, I insisted that my Infiniti dealer fix it under warranty, which they did. Again, it's your call, but I say if they screw it up more, then just have them fix it until your satisfied!

I have similar "scrunching" sound when radio (bass) played loud. Mine seems to be coming from (driver's door) window seal- up high. I only get the noise when window is all the way up? I have yet to figure out a fix.

That is what the TSB describes...look it up as you solved it. When the window is up and it rattles they will replace the actuator or grease it anyway. It works.

just want to clarify, the irritating noise I get is coming from up high where the window meets the upper door frame (which puts it right about next to my left ear). Is this the same as what is referenced by the TSB?

Maybe, maybe not. For that TSB or another TSB (not sure about the one that SixFive is referencing), your Infiniti service dept. will add another felt or rubber insulation strip along the door/window. If that doesn't cure it, it may need more felt and insulation inside the door panel itself, which they will do if you demand it (again, it's all under warranty). If the problem still exists, just tell them that you're not satisifed and you'll be calling Infiniti Consumer Affairs if they cannot fix it properly.

The reason I say all this is b/c the first time they tried to fix my door "buzzing" and rattles (due to the audio bass when the stereo volume was above 15 or so), they referred to this TSB and added that felt stip along the door/window. This did not solve the problem, so I brought it back and had them take apart both front door panels and the technician added the felt/insulation inside the door panels which did in fact solve the problem. Now, my doors & windows do not rattle and there's no buzzing when I turn up the music. The bass is nice and tight inside the cabin no matter how loud I turn it up. The bottom line is you can have them try everything until the problem is fixed to your satisfaction!
