Is this normal

Sometimes when i turn my car on and go from drive to reverse or vice versa

i feel a little thump or like the car idles a little nothing serious but thats it after that the car feels normal i drive and no trans slip or nothing

car has 78K so Is THIS NORMAL

or IS there something wrong

I'm not sure what a little thump feels like to you but I do know that my car exhibited abnormally rough gear changes right before the transmission went out. This includes when at a complete stand still and switching from P to D or R.

no i have no rough gear changes or nothing just when i turn the car on... it wont do it when the car is cold!!!! and i had a 99 acura tl and that car had those feelings your talkin about lol


and it only does it sometimes its real minor i know u have to feel something but...idk maybe its just me

We had a thread about this a while back. On startup with a cold engine, the idle is slightly higher due to cold engine warmup strategy.

Try the same thing after the car is warmed up. Put it in park and then try d and r....more than likely, it will be a softer feeling thump.

Of course of its slamming into gear like a nuetral drop...that is a different story
