Car in question is an '04 Sedan.

Sunroof tilts and closes from tilt with no problem. Sunroof also fully opens with no issues. However, it closes VERY slowly from a fully open position. What all should I be looking for to fix this? If the track just needs to be lubricated, should I use white lithium grease or silicone spray?

Also, my driver's side window is incredibly rattly when the window is open halfway-completely. Opening and closing the door shows that the window has a LOT of movement in the door. Is this a window reg problem or is it possible that the window might've loosened from the window reg anchor points a bit?

I've done some searching and have found a little info for coupes, but I'm not sure what transfers over to sedans.

Any information regarding either fix will be highly appreciated. Pics would be even better if the fix involved interior panel removal.

P.S. I'm currently traveling for work, so I don't have a garage or tools to work with until the end of this week. Otherwise, I'd already be poking around and fixing the problems.

bump. Ive got the same problem with my sunroof, it closes REALLY slow.

 

I took a look at the tracks a few minutes ago for the sunroof and it looks like I could use either lithium grease or silicone spray. I'm going to go with the silicone spray first so I don't have to worry about getting grease on the rubber seals.

Plus, I'm sure the hotel would appreciate me NOT working on my car in their lot.

Lubricate the tracks.

My tracks have grease on them from the factory. Just recently I cleaned it off and applied a molybdenum based solid lube to them. Works like white lithium grease. Opens nice and smooth

 

i have the same problem with the rattle driver side window on my 03 sedan so if you figure it out get at me.

I have the same rattling window problem on my car. I recently carried out the window motor repair diy on my passenger window. The glass sits on a metal bracket with screws holding it in place. Between the glass and the screw is a white plastic shim. It think the screws get loose over time; I tightened them up, which squeezes the plastic shim hard up against the glass, and the rattling is gone.

Turns out that there were a couple of things that kept my sunroof (OMG ITZ A MOONROOF) from closing right.

- Wind deflector had tons of little helicopter seeds stuck in it. Weird, I always park in the garage and my parking spot at work isn't near any trees.

- Grease on the rails was basically clumpy dirt. Cleaned and regreased it.

It definitely works better now, but there's still one last thing that's hampering it. The sliding sunblocker thingy is hard to pull back and forth. It doesn't appear to be off the tracks, probably has more helicopter seeds in there.

I'll pull the door card this weekend and have a look at the motor and regulator to see if the screws in the shim are loose. The sound the window makes sounds exactly like the symptom skyline250GT described.

 

Could someone write up a DIY on how to lube the tracks for the moonroof?

 

It's pretty easy. Here's what I did.

1.) Open sunroof

2.) Take a couple of q-tips and clean the channels of the moonroof tracks.

3.) Inspect the wind deflector to see if it's moving easily. If not, apply silicone spray to hinges and push the deflector down a few times.

4.) Lubricate the moonroof tracks with a moly grease or lithium grease. I used lithium because it's what I had on me.

5.) Open and close sunroof a few times to let the grease fill the tracks properly.

6.) Reapply grease to tracks and wipe away excess.

7.) Lubricate hinges of moonroof that allow it to tilt with silicone spray.

A good rule of thumb is to not apply lithium grease to any rubber surfaces.
