Say i did unbolt my muffler is it as simple as getting it up and unbolting it then boltiing it back on when im done with the noise?
You loose significant amount of pickup. When I put mine on after driving around without it for 2 weeks felt like i gained in instant 20hp again!! Big mistake to take it off originally

I'm gonna guess one of them was mine (white sedan). In one of my videos I just wanted to see how it was so I just unbolted the muffler. After I heard the sound and liked it I cut the muffler off a few inches from where it connects to the midpipe and I had a pipe welded to the rear of the bumper with a muffler tip.

LOL at those saying it is ghetto or sounds ricey. You haven't done it on the G so I don't think that opinion can be valid if you haven't heard a setup without it. It's a great sound and I'd have kept it that way had I not been forced to go the state referee for removing a smog device (my intake)...long story short, the cop was stupid, saw my CARB # and claimed my stock engine was fully modified and illegal. If you don't use any piping and put a muffler then yes, could look ghetto, but then what would you say of an exhaust setup that comes out from another location and there is no muffler coming out from the rear?

what if you cut the muffler and add an 3" pipe? would it make a difference like in power and sound or would it just be a heatup and attract cops.

Yup, that first one would be mine. Damn I miss it. I still have the pipe extension with the tip sitting in the garage.

I have a Sebring muffler now and for the price it's amazing. Much cheaper than any other exhaust, about 2/3 the price of the HKS and sounds better IMO, throatier sounder and deeper (I've owned both).

I thought I had a driving video of the Sebring, I guess not. I have test pipes so it's a lil raspy with it right now, but I'll see if I can get a video. I'll also be taking one when my test pipes come off. Eventually I plan to get rid of either the midpipe or y pipe and have it as a straight pipe. I'll also have the exhaust coming out from each side of the side skirts in the rear.

You don't lose power. What you do is shift the powerband slightly so that your torque curve peaks usually at a later RPM. Because of this, the car feels slower even though on paper there is little or no power loss.

Ignore HP for a minute. HP numbers mean nothing, it's TQ that actually moves the car. On the average, run of the mill, N/A street car, running too free of an exhaust reduces the scavenging effect of the exhaust which produces a lot of low end torque. You lost it here, but gain torque in the later RPMs. As a function of TQ x RPM, you also gain some top end HP. That's great for race cars running open headers launching at 80% max RPM, but on a street car, i'll take TQ over HP anyday.

Area under the torque curve is what matters and i would bet money that if you took a bone stock G35 and dynoed it it with and without muffler, you'd probably have similar peak numbers, but lose a lot of area under the torque curve. At the track, the no muffler car would be slower as well. I have not done this to a G35, but i have on other cars along with dyno and track time to say i would bet money the G35 would react the same way.

As for sound? That is subjective. I don't like it, but if you do, well then whatever floats your boat.

would there be anyway to get the back pressure that a muffler has without having a muffler? Like say a resonated exhaust tip or something?

I noticed very little difference, if any, with a resonated exhaust tip. Only difference was in sound. A resonated tip is not designed like a muffler so no, you can't get that back pressure back without having a muffler by getting a resonated tip.

Exactly. I think that might've been a rumor started in the 70's, like muffler bearings or blinker fluid.
