Black 6 Speed MT Guzzing Gas Halp!!!

Hey Guys a I am a newb on this forum and I need some VQ35 mclovin quick!!!

I just bought a 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT Sport. It have not even had the car a month and I am already starting to regret my purchase. The thing that is bugging me the most is the fact that now after having the car for a couple of weeks, it is now starting to guzzle gas BAD. I signed for it on the 7th of this month. I have already taken the car back to the dealership twice since the 7th of May. They have run several tests on the car and they can not tell me what is wrong with the car as far as the gas guzzling thing. The only thing that they found was an exhaust leak in the muffler itself. This whole **** is pissing me off to no end and I don't know what to do.

Please help me!!!!

Half a tank a gas a day. Mileage wise. I think I drove a from a full tank to half a tank and the car got about 146 miles. I put $55.00 in gas in the car on Friday afternoon. By the time Saturday evening rolled around I had half a tank of gas man. I am clueless as to what is going on.

146 miles on half a tank is not bad, that is normal for these cars. If you are worried about gas mileage you bought the wrong car. Should have done your research before you bought the car.

Okay you would think that but during the first couple of weeks owning the car,I got 400 miles to the tank on a full fill up homie. I now that the G35 does not have super good gas mileage but I do a lot of high way driving and everything on my car is stock except for the AEM CAI. Normally when i would hit the half take mark, I would be a little bit over 200 miles.

Calculate your MPG before you start flipping out. You're going about this very unscientifically at the moment.

The car is throwing no error codes if I did not mention that before and everything is stock except for the AEM CAI.

Before Friday...my gas mileage was about 21 mpg...which is what it should be. That is 400 miles divided by a 19 gallon tank. I have checked several websites and even the owners manual and still can not figure out how big exactly the gas tank is. I know that it holds at least 18 gallons. Now the mileage is probably 15 mpg. This is still on the highway folks. I don't do a whole lot of stop and go driving.

So wtf man? I don't drive like a maniac so I think the mileage should stay the same. The oil in the car has been changed. Do you guys think that changing to Royal Purple would help some? The last oil change was done at the dealership.

What did you do to your car to make the gas mileage go down? Go turbo or something ?!?

I get 200 miles half a tank thats all highway driving mostly.

Shift before 3k stop flooring it, lighter foot.

You can also try resetting the ECU.

Royal Purple is not good for our Engines, Castrol Syntec, GTX, GC is very good for our engines and can be found cheaply at any shop that carries oil

OP, Fill up Get down to as low as your comfortable with, and calculate the MPG that way and also find out how many gallons you already had, the gauges aren't 100% accurate.

Hmm okay that is awesome advise man. I don't floor it though. I don't have a lead foot. I like to cruise. I use the cruise control a lot too. I still don't know the drastic reduction in gas mileage on the car over the time period when nothing has been done to it. Why is Royal Purple bad for the VQ35???

Yeah man I buy all premium gas. Does it matter? The manual of course says to use it but I have heard rumors on the G forums that some people don't use premium gas in our cars. What is the deal with that?
