figuring out track width for staggerd rims on AWD

Alright I been searching on here for 2 days and cant find my answer. I have an 04 G35X, I need to know how to figure out track width so I can see if a set of 19X8.5 AND 19X9.5 rims will work. THE FRONT OFFSET IS +38MM AND THE REAR +45MM.
Its all wheel drive so I dont wanna take any chances. I'm wondering how close to the same track width I can get these with the right size tires. Is there some type of formula or a calculator for figuring this out?

If you're just trying to see if the wheels will fit, then calculating the track is an unnecessary and time consuming step. As easier way is to take the dimensions from your stock wheel, find out the offset and see how much room you have to play with in the wheel well.

I believe your fronts will be fine, but you may need spacers in the rear to clear the suspension. Don't quote me on that; I've never measured out an X before.

I would check out the aggressive fitment thread in the sedan media section. I know there's a few Xs in there; shoot the owners a PM and see what their setup is.

You might want to search for info here about using a staggered set on a X. Many had warned others about messing up the AWD system by doing this.

Sometimes I regret having AWD G35X because its not as simple with the rims and suspension as RWD.

The biggest thing about running a staggered setup on an X is making sure that the tire diameters are the same, if not VERY VERY CLOSE.

Check out tirerack.com. They have specs on every tire they carry including the outer tire diameter. You want those to be the same in the front and back on an X.

if you looked for 2 days then you have failed in searching.

off the bat you should be able to find, FlyingLumpia who should have the most first hand experience. Then The red AWD in NY/NJ i think its seddon who is running 19's or 20's. I myself ran 18's staggered rims/tires. The knowledge is out there and what WILL work and what doesn't. FYI for 18's 235/45 and 265/40 will work but 235/40 or 245/45 and 265/40 will not. So there is only one or two exact combos that can work.

Staggered widths are not a problem, it's different rolling diameters. Just make sure diameters are the same. How close you need to get is debateable. I prefer within 0.1"

The most dangerous time is when you flip the snow button and the transfer case locks 50:50 like a part time 4x4 system. So if your wheel diameters are not exactly the same, make sure you don't hit snow mode unless there is slick stuff on the ground. It normal mode, there is some slip, sp yup can be off a tiny amount.

However, there is a reason most awd cars recommend all 4 tires be replaced at the same time. Def take the time to try to get all four tires the same overall diameter to avoid any potential issues.

Lumpia I think he's concerned about the offset as well. With a 9.5" wheel running +45 will he have issues clearing the suspension w/o a spacer? The FAQ section lists this as right on the edge of needing modification.

Q - What size wheels does my stock sedan have?
17" 5 spoke (03-04 Sport)
Front & Rear: 17"x7" (+45mm) (5x4.5 or 5x114.3) bolt pattern

17" 6 spoke (Sedan std)
Front & Rear: 17"x7" (+45mm)

17" 7 spoke (Sedan X)
Front and Rear 17x7" (+offsets unknown, if you know send me a or post it in here)

18" 5 split spoke (05+ Sedan optional)
Front & Rear: 18"x7.5" (+45mm)

Q- What size wheels will fit on my sedan?
The most common upgrade is to 19" or 20" wheels.
You can run the same size all around or staggered where the rears are wider.
(*Caution - the sizes listed below are estimates and may still rub depending on camber and height of your car)
(*Caution - it is not good for the AWD system in the X model sedan to run staggered wheels unless you remove the AWD fuse)

For the same size, an 8.5" +35-40mm rim will fit all around.
For staggered the rear size can be up to a 9.5" +45mm before modification is required. You can run a 10 or 10.5" but it will need to be higher offset to clear the inner fender.

Many people shave or roll their rear fenders in order to fit a lower offset or wider wheel. With the rear fenders rolled you can fit a 10" +40mm wheel with a 275 tire and -.5 degrees of camber or more.

You can go with lower offsets and/or wider wheels if you add in more negative camber and run smaller tires but do this knowing you will wear out the tires faster. There have been members go with much lower offsets and very stretched tires/negative camber so don't take this as an absolute but more of the "normal" setup.

Q - Will coupe 19's fit an 03-06 sedan?
Yes, however, if you lower your car you will need to either run smaller than OEM tires or roll/shave your fenders to avoid rubbing in the rear due the coupe 19's lower offset.

Q - What size tires?
The most common size tires for 19" wheels are 245/35(or 40)/19 (8.5-9" rim) and 275/30(or 35)/19 (9.5-10" rim)
The most common size tires for 20" wheels are 245/35/20 for (8.5-9" rim) and 275/30/20 (9.5-10" rim)
Please see the wheel/tire section for more information.
