Loud engine bay

Does anyone else have a very loud engine bay? I feel that the fans and intake are very loud (both when the AC is on/ off). I rev and it just sounds like a tornado. Video to come...

Mechanical fan?

Possible the fan clutch (if equipped) is seized. With the engine off, attempt to turn the fan by hand. If it doesn't move or is very stiff, the fan clutch has failed.

I'd wait form confirmation from another 2003.0 er that the early mechanical fan cars do carry a clutch.

They did have a clutch. They should make noise at startup for a few minutes and then when hot and/or AC on. They typically don't spin at high RPM for long - a few seconds.

If it is always howling and sounds like a garbage truck the clutch has probably siezed.

Did you ever find out what was causing the noise? Mine sounds like its doing the same thing. It's an 03 with about 83,000 on it. Just all of a sudden today it was howling like it was on steroids, even with low RPM revs. The last couple of days i heard a squealing noise like it was the belts or something and now this

For what its worth I'm pretty sure its not the fan... I checked it and it spins pretty freely. The induction noise makes it sound like a full on race machine. If anyone else has any ideas, I am all ears.

But I have to say, the G;s fans are much much loudeer than my i30. It was way quiet.

Should have gotten a Lexus instead, they are known for quietness.
