wow reading this really makes me wonder if my car has problems, i have a 06 sedan 5AT, and i struggle to get even a 250-275 for full tank, i do the half tank fill up with 91, and today i filled up about 8 gallons and it touches the half line. i drove for only 54 miles and its already almost to the point where the gas light will turn on.... do you guys have any suggestions? i only have 47k miles on it. and my air filter is clean.... please i need suggestions and help. O Btw i do mostly highway driving and like 20%city driving. and in the city i dont go over 2k on the rev. on highway i would cruise control at about 60-65. my tires are 35 psi on all four. I lowered the car on Stechs if it helps. PLEASE I NEED SERIOUS HELP.

Same here^ but not THAT bad...

my car's exhaust smells like it's burning oil and I struggle to get 260miles per gallon on my stock 03 g sedan!

Will changing air filter improve MPG?

Drop in a bottle of BG 44k and after that tank(44k) is done with, change to a synthetic Motor oil. hopefully you see a change. i barely got 300 miles out of my first tank then i did the mentioned procedure and now i get 375 before the light comes on. Give it a try if you're willing to do synthetic.

Some people here just don't drive fast enough<G>.

Over the past 2.5 years my 2004 G35x got 21.36mpg on its best tank, 14.23mpg on its worst, and 16.64mpg overall average. The owners getting over 20mpg consistently just never put their foot down.

Actually, that's not true. I get on mine quite often and still get over 20mpg on the usual. BUT I mainly drive down the highway for most of my driving. But I am definately a "spirited" driver. I do get better mileage with my new motor as opposed to the older one, but only by about 2mpg difference.

I just had my first fill up...21.4 MPG. It was a shocker because I was use to ~25-27mpg in my Mazda 3 and my fill ups were $30 (12gal tank). Now Im spending $40-45....Oh well.

250 at the most

One of my friends (04 G35 6MT) is getting 300 with his daily driving routine. The best i ever got was 435 on a tank and that was a road trip.

This thread is still split! What I am noticing is that the ppl with the 6mt's are better off than us with the 5at's. Seems like 6th gear really helps on keeps rpm's low at speeds above 60 and even lower when just cruising at 45-50. Hmmmm.

How is synthetic oil running with those of u that made the change?

I am on a 2006 5AT, K&N drop in filter, Valvoline 5/30 synthetic, and BG 44k before every oil change. The car took about 500 miles to adjust to the oil, idle at 500 rpm and i feel it runs smoother than conventional. I don't notice any HP difference... but its probably inly 2-5 hp gain

GUY REMEMBER THAT SOME OF YOU HAVE RIMS!!!!!!! SO EVEN IF THEY'RE LIGHT THEY 1)STILL KILL YOUR GAS AND 2)IF THE DIAMETER EXCEED STOCK YOU'LL GET A LOWER READING!
i have 18s on a 245 profile and i get 21 avg with both freeway and city driving.

With my coupe 19's on and 245/40 tires I still average 400+ to a tank. Mileage does decrease some, but not much. Maybe 1-2 MPG.

Heavier wheels will definitely affect your fuel economy.
