First time poster

I recently replaced my battery on my 2003.5 G35 5AT Sedan. My original batter lasted 7 year! woo hoo...

The same day that I installed the new battery my engine sounded way too loud. I thought it was just a mental thing but my wife said that my car definitly sounds louder. Has anyone experienced this after changing their battery?

It sounds loudest when im in lower speeds.... like 5-45 mph. After that it sounds less loud. The engine doesn't seem to "kick into gear" I kind of stay around 2-2.5k RPM the whole time. If i use manual gear shift it seams to soften the sound.... so im thinking it might be the transmission? Maybe getting the transmission fluid flushed would be a good idea?

Any ideas?

Your car has to relearn your driving habits, program the AT accordingly, and things like the idle control will be messed up for a few days.

Give it a week and your car should be back to normal.

Yeah I am hoping that it just needs to relearn my driving habits... I'll just play it by ear this week and if its still sounding weird in a couple of weeks ill take it in. Thanks for the input!

Please tell me if this noise went away or if you had to replace something? We also just replaced the battery in our 2014 Mazda 3 and it's been doing the exact same thing!

Was the battery replaced by you or was the work performed at a shop? Check how tight the battery connections are.

Describe this sound, is a click, a knock, a whine, etc.

The battery was replaced by us. It just sounds like it's revving higher than it should be, no knocking or whirring or high pitched noises. It happens around the 2 mark and like previous poster said it seems louder in the lower gears but goes away when the car shifts or I slow down and rev lower.

Sounds like you have a 5AT equipped vehicle, check the transmission fluid levels, you might be a little low which requires higher engine RPM to generate the proper line pressure.

Kaery Mae is talking about a 2014 Mazda. Resurrected a 2010 thread. Doubt the OP will be replying, but it happens sometimes.

Same issues as above...
Kaery and Diablo, did the car ever start running correctly? I just changed the battery in my 2016 Hyundai Accent today and the engine is louder then usual. I'm getting worried because the only thing thst was changed was the battery.

Replacing the battery has absolutely NOTHING to do with the sound of your engine, it will not make it louder. If something has changed it is unrelated to the battery.

all I changed was the battery and my car was running fine before so I'm confused. I'm going to take it back to the dealership. I was asking them above to see if the sound went away or they took a different action

I'm not disputing that there's something wrong with your car, I'm just saying that swapping a battery is not what caused it. Take a video of the car making the sound and put it up on youtube, post the link here and the video will embed automatically.
