Whining noise from engine /powering-up sound at low speeds
My 03'G35 Sedan make whining noise/power-up type sound when accelerating at lower speeds ( 20-40 mph). Its not doing it at higher speeds.
I took it to couple of local service centres and they couldn't find anything.
Frustrated when frns ask me about this sound

Hit my ignorance with a baseball bat, I am not sure about the fan set up.
can you please educate me or point out where I can do it myself

Pop your hood and look behind the radiator. There is a large fan. It's either electric, or it's connected to the engine.
If it's connected to the engine, grab it and try to spin it ( engine off of course) and see how hard it is to spin. If its hard, the fan clutch is prob toast.

I've also had a similar sound. Sounds like it's right behind the firewall on driver's side. Winding up (similar to a gear drive on chevies or fords) can be heard most at lower rpms, like just taking off. I too, will check the fan.

maybe its the hyperdrive powering up
or since your car is an 03 it might be the fan since the hyperdrive only comes on the 04...

My fan is ridiculously loud, and no the bearing isn't shot, the sound of the airflow is annoying.
