So when should we shift?

Uh normally, if your just driving normally under 3k. If you wanted to give it the beans you let it get up to redline or do it at any earlier time in MM thats the point you tell it when to shift.

forgot to mention that the VDC must be off for some fun turns. It takes forever to shift though, I can't stand it.

Although, i will say, having a 6spd in the garage has calmed my desire to drive a manual every so often. But, it is also reinforcing why i wont one in my next car.

Nothing replaces the clutch pedal. Manumatic is nothing like a real stick. You still feel disconnected with the slushy torque converter. Yeah it locks up...but its still not like a clutch.

Nothing like slipping the clutch out on a hard launch and then slamming back into 2nd gear, getting the car sideways and then doing the same into third.

Yes, Ferrari and lambo SMG's kick ***, but most passenger car manumatics are not clutch less manual transmissions. Not the same design and the feel is not the same. They use a electronically controlled clutch, we just lock out torque converters and hold the shifts longer.

On and I wouldn't recommend driving around at 6500 rpm and holding it there on any automatic transmission. Heat kills automatics, and revving the he'll out of one is one way to heat them up (as well as brake torquing at a dead stop)

I've often wondered about adding a tranny cooler to the car. I have used a nice plate style with a cooling fan on an old automatic muscle car I built. Really helped keepmtranny temps down. This might be overkill on a daily driver, but would be good for a boosted car that is raced often

90% the time I am in mm mode too, no issues. I still dont like the 2-3 gear slam, but it doesn't seem to have any effect really..

If you want to keep it OEM, doesn't the X have a cooler for the tranny or the front diff? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too difficult to install one. A fan for it would be nice, but I could see it being a little overkill. If anything, put it in front of the radiator and make the rad fan pull double-doody.
