I have a mostly stock '04 sedan and my alarm goes off like every 20 mins, seemingly for no reason. I have no idea why it is doing it, and I havn't taken it to be looked at yet. Does anyone know why this could be happening or a way to make it stop?

Is there any way to just disable the alarm for the time being?

 

haha.. join the club.. i have a 06 and did that.. try these fixes

1.unplug hood sensor switch
2.check door plungers make sure they are connected and connections are clean
3.see if your car battery is good
4.change your key fob battery..
5.try disconnecting your battery for 5 mins and then before reconnecting touch the negative and positive wire terminals together then install back.

 

My hood does not close properly and makes a metal on metal sound when I open it. Could that have something to do with it? It has been like that since I bought the car a year and a half ago and the alarm has only started going off about a month ago.

I also installed nismo side skirts and unfortunately lost a few of the grommets into the metal side sills.

 

side skirt won't matter.. for your hood yea probably.. just unplug it and see what happens

 

cool, where is the plug for the sensor?

 

in red (under neath that plug there is a plug.. just unplug it see what happens.. but after doing so disconnect (-) terminal for 2 mins and reconnect

Do you mean put something metal metal like a wrench across both the negative and positive terminals on the battery?

That can lead to the hydrogen gas produced by the battery exploding lead shrapnel and sulpheric acid in one's face.

 

no just touch the two wires itself together when they are disconnected.. not on the battery

My car just started doing this when summer is about to end. For the past two days it has been going off. Starting to get annoying. I just unplug my hood pin, let's see how it goes.

Do anyone recommend pulling the engine fuse for the horn out if the hood pin doesn't work?

 

My 04' did that when I bought it. The problem was the hood hinge was bad and holding up the corner just enough for the hood pin sensor to open. I just unplugged it and it was fine.

 

Thanks for sharing me your experience. I wonder why it started honking now when summer started 3 months ago.
