Question '03/04 Sedan Owners - Cleaning Forged Rims...

For those w/ the OEM '03/04 brakes that produce alot of dust, what do you use to clean your wheels? My Nismos are getting dirty and I dont want to screw up the finish.

I just wash my wheels with the ONR mix I wash the car with and dust isn't a problem. I wash once a week though so not a lot of time for dirt/dust to get bad or adhere to the wheels.

My fronts are the major problem. How much are the 2 piston calipers up front. Direct swap for the '04 OEMs?

Wash off your rims every week My 03's brakes dust like a ***** onto my 18" mutli-spoke rims. A simple shot with the hose removes 95% of the dust without the need of a wheel cleaner.

wash wheels regularly. water, car shampoo, and a wash mitt. every ~1 week or so.

my 19" coupe rays are a pain to clean but it has to be done.

if ur thinking about goin with a bbk dont do the 05-06 swap no point u can just change the pads for future dust before you get the bbk and u wont have to worry about cleaning ur wheels at all maybe a light dusting of the wheel but if u get the full ceramic pads u shouldnt have any dust problems

OEM 05/06 front brakes, rotors, pads should be around $200~$300 on Marketplace; IIRC the torque members are different, so if you're getting a set make sure they are included just to be safe.

Here's what I do for cleaning....

1.) I wash my wheels with P21S cleaner, I let it soak in for about 2 minutes and wash them with a microfiber cloth. Brushes will scratch, no matter how "soft" they say they are.

2.) Every 2 months, I'll pop the wheels off, give the inner barrels a good cleaning, and use Wheel Wax on the inner barrel, outer lip, and face. It's really nice because a strong jet of water will be enough to remove about 90% of the brake dust.

I still have the standard 04 brakes and they dust like crazy. I'll be changing them out for something new when funds allow.
