I was thinking about lowering my 05 sedan with Z front and coupe rear OEM springs and wanted to see some pictures preferably with 245/45/R18. Trying
to get a feel for how the car will look.

Also, do you guys have problems with scratching the bottom of your front bumper or muffler when driving in and out of driveways? Is there any drastic improvement compared to OEM sports suspension? I would like to hear your opinions.

I did a search and saw pics but most of the cars are with 235/45/R18 or with coupe 19s. I would like to see pics with 245/45/R18s. Looking at pics it might look a little to low.

 

Wouldn't 235/45/18 have no difference in height from 245/45/18? 235/245 are the tire widths, not the sidewall heights which are the same.


I had a full z suspension and then moved to a z front/coupe rear suspension, both at 235/45/18. Look at my profile for pics.



Ride quality had no change from my stock sport suspension. The fronts and rears of 350z/coupe springs should have the same spring rates as a stock sport sedan, unless you go with sport coupe springs which would be stiffer (427 rate, not 342).

If you're not used to sitting lower than the norm, you will scrape in a lot of places even with the 350z springs' conservative drop of 1". Better learn the S and slow and easy techniques.

 

It is very similar but the height is a little higher. The 45 is the aspect ratio and 245*.45 > 235*.45. It shouldn't look too much different but wanted to see before I attempted this mod.

 

Dude. Waaaaaaaaay too picky. 245 vs 235? You're talking 10mm times a .45 aspect is 4.5mm.... that's less than 3/16th of an inch

This doesn't need to be a thread, you just need to look through the stickies better.

 

Like max said, the aspect ratio (sidewall height) is a percentage of the width. So a 225/45/18 will have essentially the same diameter as a 295/35/19. 26.0'' vs 26.1". Sidewall height will be almost identical but the tread width will be about 2.75" wider on the 295. For But the above case the overall diameter between the two is roughly 1/8th of an inch..you wont really be able to tell from a side pic of the car from a few ft back.

I am on revised Z Springs with 245/45R18 tires all around, no problems at all with rubbing or with my front bumper even with a fully loaded car. I only have had a problem once on a really steep driveway, I scraped going out with a fully loaded car.

I've got 235/45R18 PZeros and I think they're fractionally too tall, even though they perfectly match OEM aspect ratio. They actually look decent now because they're 80% worn. IMO, a 245/45 would appear about the same.....too tall. I'm going with 225/45R18 in the front and 245/40R18 in the back in a month to go with my 18X8 rims. The tires are about .3" shorter, tend to be lighter, more selection of tires, will make the car appear a little lower, and will give the car a fractional stagger (0.6" wider contact patch in the back).

Here is my 235/45R18 when they were fairly new. I'm on Z/coupe springs. BTW, black cars are a biatch to photograph to bare with my crappy pics.

i think you are better off going with a complete set of the same kind (unless some1 has a z front/coupe rear springs for sale) our cars already have a slanted look to it and any even drop i.e .06 all around will look good regardless if not better.
trust me i have been through this same thing.

 

Car should have came this way from the factory. My only complaint is the wheels are tucked in alittle too much with the +45 factory offset. Running stock 235/45/18 size and been on this setup for over a year and love it.
