how to beat EVO8?

Re: how to beat EVO8?
1. Buy an STi.
Modding a G would take quite a bit of money. On the low end the Evo VIII is going to be tough to beat, if at all. However, they have 5 gears, so if the race is long enough you should be able to get reasonably close to him on the top end.
2. Go for a supercharger and run with minimal boost and safe timing. It's going to cost in the $7k to $8k range with all the parts, installation, and tuning. Bolt ons will not get you what you need to handle the Evo VIII.
3. Driving school. This could help a lot and improve your driving skills, not only for track & strip, but also real world driving conditions.
Of the three options, I would go for #3.

Re: how to beat EVO8?
How about with an ugly stick? That is the worst looking factory mod sedan I've seen. It's worse that the hopped up Neon. He's going to pay $30K for a car that only has a 5-speed. I'd never pay that much for that kind of car. They could have made that car look better, but it'd still be an unreliable, dangerous Mitsubishi. That company covers up a lot of reliability and safety issues. Who cares if you beat it or not. You may be alive a lot longer. Your car will, for sure.

Re: how to beat EVO8?
Irrelevant comments about "ugly sticks" aside, you're not going to be able to reasonably "beat" an EVO8 with a G35. Stock for stock, they have much better acceleration than a G35. You can spend $6K on a supercharger + installation to trump the EVO; of course, that will last only until you end up throwing one of the VQ's weak *** con rods after a few months. You can empty your bank account on a turbo kit, built engine, new rear end, wider wheels and rubber, and tuning....but an EVO will match you for less than the price of a stock G35. As far as handling is concerned...just forget it there is nothing at all you can do to match an EVO.
I hope you didn't buy a G35 to outperform an EVO.
I'm sure this post will be followed by a bunch of off-topic replies stating how much more luxurious and better looking the G35 coupe is.

Re: how to beat EVO8?
The MR has a upgraded turbo, 6 spd gearbox and has more HP and Torque, it also weighs less then a regular Evo so i dont know where you got that from lol, the Evo MR and RS both are lighter, but the RS is the real "lightweight" version, i thinkt he evo MR is a SICK looking car, i would get one in a second..

Um...let's see...
no, yes, no, and no. And also no.
You need to do some research my friend...
www.mitsubishicars.com/ (click on the lancer evo specifications page)
HP (for all 3 models) is 276, torque is 286.
Curb weight:
RS - 3197
EVO - 3263 [3321 w/sunroof]
MR - 3285

Re: how to beat EVO8?
Ok there are larger injectors for the turbo, my fault ignorant comment and yes there is more torque and HP, its in all of the magazine saying "up some HP and torque"
C&D: "We mentioned extra engine output, and it's there on all Evos, particularly on the twist side of the ledger: 276 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque, compared with 271 horsepower and 273 pound-feet for the previous car. The gain was achieved with a larger turbine nozzle and a new waste gate."
