I know this is redundant, you can join the military though and they will pay off your current school loans and give you money towards further education. Are you here on a school visa or actually a citizen? Even so they offer great opportunities to work with partnerships in africa teaching the miilitary and you can also do engineering which is really big for the army.
Hope you can find a cheap tranny its pretty straight foward and you can do it with simple hand tools and a hanes manual. Just remember to buy a new trans filter why you are in there.
GL keep your head up n hope everything works out.

Navy reserve has a good engineering program. After all they need people to run their ships and take care of them.
I almost went into the navy during the last recession back in 2001 when I graduated with my engineering degree. There was nothing back then and I had to go find a different job. Didn't get an engineering job until 2005, and this recession is tougher.
Just gotta keep on trying

If you paid for the permit, show proof. I'm sure you paid via credit card.
As for the car, that's so expensive for belts, but normal for a dealership. Same with transmission. You need to find a shop that's will do work on the car. If you're in so cal, let me know. The guy by my house does great work and is inexpensive. Free quotes, but gets very busy so you'd have to drop it off early in the morning.
