NEED PARTS: 2004 G35 Sedan
NEED PARTS: 2004 G35 Sedan
Hey guys, I need some help. My mom drives a 2004 G35 Sedan and was in an accident last week. They estimated the repairs to be $15K!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is absurd. The passenger airbag went off and they are saying $5k for that alone. I was always able to find parts for my Camaro on these types of forums and was curious if anyone had a compatible car they might possibly be parting out or if anyone knows where to find an airbag and headlights anywhere. I'm meeting with her this evening to look at the initial estimate and see what all I can fix for her and what we can get from other sources for cheaper.
If anyone has any ideas I could use the help. PM me! THANKS!!!

I hope your mother is OK.
Besides front end damage is there any other damage? I have a 2004 sedan trunk with spoiler available if there is rear end damage. Perfect condition.
FWIW I was in an accident last week, front end damage and my estimate was $7100. No airbags were deployed. Parts alone were estimated at $4300. This was for one headlamp, hood, hood liner, radiator support, radiator, condenser assembly, R+L hood hinges, grill and a few misc parts. Good luck and I hope all works out for you!

Yep this exactly! She bought the car cash, had full coverage for a while then the economy hit her pretty hard and she lost a lot. Now she can only afford liability.
For 15K she is almost in a new Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. I say get a new car because even if she pays to have the car fixed it isn't worth much because of the damage. I would bet, even fixed, it is worth less than 7k. If she pays 7k for parts/paint she is throwing her money away. Just a suggestion.
If she is set on fixing it I would look at Rock Auto for new parts. They have good prices on parts for the G35 and other vehicles. http://www.rockauto.com/index.php?a=G-autoparts
Other than that I would search out online auto dismantlers, but check with Rock Auto to see if they are cheaper than used aftermarket.

I agree ^^^
if its paid for just take it as a loss
no need to spend $15K (probably a high estmate anyways) on a wrekced car
spend $7-$10K and get a decent used accord or civic for the mean time

Without seeing the damage, hard to say if the car should be fixed...although most of that is prob airbags. Still, even if you cut that estimate in half to $7500...for another grand or two more you can buy another '04 that isn't wrecked.
Wrecked cars are never the same. Why i would never suggest anyone buy a salvage title car. Wiring harnessed get damaged and not replaced, body creaks and other issues, etc, etc.
Let it die...buy a $3500 civic

i tend not to agree that its completely not worth fixing if you can do it cheaply. If you have to have others fix it, then probably not. if you can do the work and just pay a grand for paint, its probably worth while. Or buy another one with a bad motor/tranny and use this one for parts
