Tiptronic issues?
Is 5th gear ratio an overdrive ratio?
In fact, if you punch it hard at 55 in [D] or [4] or [5] the transmission will select 3rd.
^Yes, 5th is an overdrive.
ya my 05 sedan will stay in the gear selected say 5th and if floored stays in that gear where as my friends 03 M45 would down shift automatically,,,i guess the older infinitis all did that ..i personally like the newer stlye better
Some interesting testing I just did.
Appearently MM isn't just "manual" but also a more performance oriented shift logic as well.
In [D] or MM if you're going 55 and punch it to WOT, it will only downshift to 3rd (as 2nd would be just about to run out anyway)
At 45 or a little under [D] or MM will both put you in 2nd at WOT.
The difference is at 50mph. [D] will grab 3rd, but MM in [5] or [4] will grab 2nd just for a sec and wind it out into 3rd.
I should go clock 50-75 in both auto and MM and see how much of a difference it makes.
I forgot to check, but I think it revs higher before shifting (even if you let it automatically shift) when in MM than it does in full-auto.

I wish the MM shift logic would shift automatically just with more sporty shift points until you actually up/down shift a gear and then shift manually from then on.
