Compression rod

My wife took her G35 2003 to the dealer for a recalled on airbag, while at the shop they inspected her car and gave her a list of what need to be done, in the list they said the compression rod cracked(i think the bushing have crack), I think I can replace but need step by step instructions or DIY video would be great....anyone here that have done it before could give me instruction on how to .... my plan is to replace the rod since I don't have the tool to install the bushing into the rod.. thank you

compression bushings need to be compressed in, so you can buy the bushing at the dealer, which are super cheap and have a shop compress them for you... or u can buy the complete compression rod which would be 300 for both

Compression rods don't crack unless there was a really huge impact so they were definitely talking about the bushing and trying to get you for the parts and labor of the entire compression rod.

what others have said, just find a shop that can press them in, and you are golden for less than 100
