I've noticed my car has a grinding sound, but it's like before it shifts into second gear and it only happens immediately when you turn the car on. It will never do it again even if you're on traffic lights, etc... Any ideas? At first I thought it might be some ignition-related problem, but it sounds like it's near the axle/transmission/lower engine... Also I don't think it grinds at all if you accelerate faster. The slower you accelerate after starting the car the worse the grind is... What do you guys think?

 

I believe it's the ABS self-check which is totally normal. Has it always been there?

 

It's been there since I bought the car 6 months ago or so. The grind doesn't really sound "nice" though. But it does grind consistently at the same time like I said, turn the car on, drive until it shifts the first time, grind, and then never grinds again till I turn it on again next time.

Edit: I did a search for ABS self-check and it sounds pretty much the same thing that happens to my car as well. That's a relief. Phew!

yea I get the same grinding noise and my brakes feel a little strange for a second but then it goes away...only happens after I start pulling out of the driveway.
