Keys to the G help
ok i only have one key for my car deff not a good idea is it possible for me to program a key myself if i buy a blank key or is it possible to take it to a regular key maker or is my only option like 300$ at the stealership
a regular key maker no....
there are some good locksmiths that have the technology to do this tho.
A blank key will open the doors and thats about it. FYI, if you do loose you one and only key, the cost to get a replacement will be $300 at the dealership + tow fee.

You need to answer a few questions first. The key itself can be made at any key shop. But it requires programming. Also this isn't a key you can simply buy off the shelf at a key shop. If you have the intelligent key system (no key needed to start car) you need to buy the fob with the key and then get it programmed. Not cheap either way.
even if you have an I-key you can get a normal key made. I bought my car with 2 i-keys, a wallet key that only unlock doors and a normal looking key that can start the car.
95% sure the dealership is only option. Remote programing is something you can do but KEY programming is dealership only.

In the OP he said one key is not good. If you have the i-key it comes with a blank. So why get a regular key made? The intent of his question was to have two sets of keys. If he doesn't have i-key the blank still has to be programmed after cutting it to make it a viable 2nd key set. What good is it to have a simple unprogrammed key made to only get in the car with when he loses the one key he has to run the ignition. You all are over-thinking this. To the OP, depending on the ignition type you have you will have different levels of programming to do either way to have a dependable 2nd set of keys made for the car.

I think all he wants is to have 2 keys, never stated remote. We dont know if he has a normal key or an I-key. I'm telling him, if he just makes a key at the key shop for $5-10, that key will not start the car. Obviously most people want 2 keys that start the car.
option one and a CHEAPER route to get 2 keys to start it, regardless of what he has now ( i-key or not) is to get a normal key ordered from nissan and program it. This is will be cheaper then getting an I-key. Labor is the same but cost for parts is different. If you want/have the I key system and want another I key then do it that way. You will need it program reguardless.
EITHER WAY you need to pay 1 hour of labor for the programing, $100-180 pending on dealership's rates. And the part... which is ?? I would personally just get a simple key cut and programmed, if i had an i-key and it was my only key. Chances are you wont lose your key and never have to use that 2nd key.

You do not have to go to the dealer to program your keys.
When I bought may car(used) I got two fobs and one key in one of the fobs. I bought a key on line for about $10-20. A local locksmith cut the key and reprogramed everything , both fobs and both keys. They must all be done at the same time. Cost= $70.
