Crash Zone Sensor fail after airbag recall

Got the airbag harness recall done on my 03.5 sedan in September, then a few days ago during normal driving the airbag warning light started flashing on my dash. The dealership checked it and told me it's the Crash Zone Sensor, $460 to fix it . I did some search and found that Nissan Frontier and Xterra had recalls on those sensors, but nothing on G35. This seems really odd, any ideas?

I'd find someone parting out a G, pay em $50 for one and call it a day. If its the sensor i am thinking off...quick plug and play

If it's what I think it is then I had the same exact problem after the harness recall. I just reset it and let it be. Maybe one day I'll get to it...

I figured I could do that, it just seems odd to me since I haven't seen any related issue here. I'll reset it and see how it goes.

Did the light come back on after reset?

Well, if you do a reset, and there is a genuine fault, it will come back. It won't hurt to try. Just keep in mind, if the part is faulty, and you reset it it's still faulty. The light being off doesn't garantee the air bag system will work properly if you crash.

Do you know which sensor up front is the faulty one? There are three iirc.

^ yes that's what I want to find out. If it's really faulty then I'll move on to the next step.

This is the one the dealership told me about. Looks like there's only one assembly. I'll find out when I get to it.

Check all the connections (unplug/plug in) from the sensor to the computer. You may just have an "open" or a high resistance open from a little corrosion.

Well, that diagram is for the center one. There are usually three up front. One dead center, and one on each corner.

Btw, these are accelerometers....so if you remove any, handle it carefully. Don't drop it or bang it around.

I would prob start by inspecting the wiring and perhaps testing it. Unsuer how to test.

Any boneyards near you? Might be able to pull one off a wrecked Nissan. Unsure which cars use that design sensor

That's on my list. I'll start with the contacts and terminals.

I thought there would be more than one sensor, I'll look closely. I assume the sensors would be the same as the ones on 350z, if that's the case it'd be easier to find one. I'll reset it first and see how it goes. Thanks for the info.

I would assume it's the same as well, but it could be different or change in different years

Want to bump this up. My airbag light is flashing. Its been about 8 months since I had the recall done on my 04.5 sedan.

Can anyone comfirm if the sensors are the same for other Nissans?

I did a reset and the light hasn't come back on, so I stopped searching. Also I realized there are multiple sensors and the code doesn't tell which one is faulty. Try the airbag reset first.
