Brakes Should Infiniti Fix This Brake Problem For Me?

04 G35 w/ 60,000 miles. It's my grandfather's car which I now drive as well. Up until recently he took it to Infiniti for all repair/service, he drives it very softly.

At 54,000 miles Infiniti:
-replaced rear pads and machine rotors $204
-parts $75
-replace front pads and replace front rotors $204
-parts: disc brake $75
-parts: rotor disc brake $269

TOTAL: 827 + tax.

Now on a daily basis I get loud squeeking. The brakes work fine but the squeeking is really annoying.

Is there any chance they will fix this problem for free? Or are they going to charge me for it?

Personally I think its ridiculous that 6,000 miles later they are already squeeking.

The dealership is a bit away and I know I'll be sitting there for hours so if we don't think they will fix for free I might as well find another solution.

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

I went through is paperwork (I'm not sure if he kept all of it, but I went through what he did have) and I found the additional Brake work:

At 40,000 miles Infiniti:
-Replaced front brake pads and rotors $240 labor
-parts- $400

TOTAL $640 + tax

At 24,500 miles, Infiniti:

Replaced front brake pads and rotors "charged to used car policy"

Something is messed up with those numbers.
They machined rears for the same $ as replacing the fronts?
Sounds fishy to me.

It might just be that he's going with the "We recommend..." ploys to get more money out of him.

Nearly all brakes will squeal a bit when they're cold, or if they've sat out and had some moisture produce a thin layer of rust that has to be ground off. If he's in a humid location, like LA, driving the car rarely, and never brakes hard enough to completely remove the rust, then it can easily build up enough that they start to ruin pads.

There's really far too little we can tell over the internet to truly assist you with this one.

While he was certainly a light driver, he still used it everyday, and now that I use it as well, it is used even more.

I'd say the most its gone without being driven is about 3 days while he was on a business trip.

the dealership parts & work should have a 12mo 12k mile warranty...it should say that right on the receipt.

So if it is squeeking excessively within that time you should take it back in and they should handle it, that's what the warranty is for.

they charged to replace front pads AND rotors for $204....whats the $75 disc brake?

same for the rear $204 and then parts = $296?

is the $204 labor?

Either way, at 6k they should atleast look at it for free, im sure some kinda warranty applies

YES, thank you for this. On the bottom BACK of the receipt in small writing, sure enough it says "we guarantee our labor for 90 days or 4,000 miles. Except on our labor on genuine Nissan/Infiniti parts is 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first."

Infiniti puts anti-seize behind the pads, not brake quite so they will probably just slab on some more anti-seize and send you on your way.

I have the anti-seize stuff on my car and no squealing. When I do a brake job going to clean that crap off.

Also just google the part numbers, youll see how much they cost on other sites online

But yes go to the dealer and tell them to fix it lol

Made an apt for Wed (earliest they had), we'll see how it goes.

Something tells me they won't be as psyched once they see its a 26 year old who knows about cars vs a 60 year old who assumes the only place he can get his car fixed is at the Infiniti dealer and thinks that anything they suggest he has to do.

Looking at the receipts more, EVERY time he took the car in they convinced him to get a $180 detail job on the car.

So messed up.

Thats why Dealers get names Devilships and stealerships for a reason

I assume Shane works at or owns his own repair shop?

Is there anyway I could get his contact info?

After I get this brake thing fixed for free by Infiniti I'd like to find a guy I can go to for all our maintenance/repairs (and when I get my 07 G35 I'd like to take it there as well)
