They should give you at least a 3 months/90 days warranty on the car. I don't think I would buy any car without some type of warranty!

You could call up a dealer and find the in service date and see if the drivetrain warranty is still active. 70k miles and 6 years I believe is the time for that.

I believe younsaid it had 69,500 miles? Don't drive over 70,000 miles until you confirm the drivetrain warranty is still active. Don't let the used car dealer drove it around either. If they can't do anything for you....take it to infiniti

I'm going to try that next. I just took the car back to the place I bought it, showed the owner the problem and he said they'd look at it tomorrow and call me about it. When I bought it they said I could give them $500 for a 2-day return option, but I didn't take it because it seemed expensive and was nonrefundable. Now I look up online and it says in California the law is max $250 for the 2-day option, and if you exercise it they can charge $500 restocking fee. The paperwork they gave me has the price blank. For some reason California doesn't seem to have these guarantees, although we have a lot of laws covering all sorts of products and contracts. This was the first time I bought a car - I guess next time I'll know better we'll see what they say tomorrow. He didn't mention charging to look at it or anything.

According to the car fax the first title issued date was May 2003. It actually has 69,400. On Monday I'm going to try calling them despite the 6 years having passed.

2003? I thought this was an '05

Call the dealer, give them the vin and ask for the "in service date"

That's they date when the car was sold....and warranty starts from that day

Edit: for some reason I could of sworn I read it was an 2005...but now I can't find anything

Even though it has the problem I still love it and didn't want to take it back
I guess I'll be driving the 240Z again for now. Hopefully next time I have to buy a new car won't be anytime soon.

I went to the dealership and they say the clutch is thin on one side causing it to grind in 5th. I forgot the paperwork because I hadn't expected they'd refund me for the car. Now I'm having second thoughts...do you think I should ask if they will go ahead and replace the clutch and keep it if it doesn't have a problem anymore? Or do you think grinding in 5th can only be the transmission problem people talk about?

The other thing is the car has been repainted. It's still technically my car. I also paid $11,950.
