'03 G 35 starter not engaging

My 03 G 35 is not starting. The only noise I hear when the key is turned to start is possibly the fuel pump for a couple seconds then nothing. My battery is fully powered, and I have cleaned the posts and terminals last week. This has presented occasionally with a hesitation when key turned to start, then it cranked and immediate engine start. My guess is starter issue, any other suggestions? I had a new key set up last week, thought that was the problem.
Thanks

I think you posted on the other post of Roh's car not starting. Mine is an 03 too and mine did the same thing. Every few times the car would start but after awhile your starter burns out. My power would come on and all of that but would only click and then nothing.

Get your starter replaced, all my problems are gone. Look around your area for a mechanic that will replace it, dealership will take your wallet and the hand holding it if you go through them.

Thank you g35newbie3, I have 93,000 miles and other than the starter all is doing well. I have a garage I use and will have it taken there in the morning. They are reasonable and respect the customer. My greatest concern was if there was anything else I should be checking along this line.
I hope I can return the favor in the future.

starter is very easy to swap on these cars if you are willing to give it a shot...just a thought.

Thanks Tollboothwilley

Thanks Tollboothwilley, I would have tried the starter remove and install but now I don't have a garage and the temperature is in the 20's with a gravel driveway. Thanks much for your suggestion, summer time might have gotten my jack stands out. My daughter and her family live in Vegas, love to visit. Thanks again.

Just started happening to me... sometimes it cranks right away and sometimes it doesn't. The way to make it work every time at the moment is to turn on the ignition, wait a few seconds, and then turn to start... the starter needs alllll the juice it can get to turn. I'll be attempting to change it out myself this week.

if it does not start at all right now you can try and give it a few light knocks with something like a crow bar. Had a similar problem on a Jeep tj and it used to work. at least i was able to drive it to the garage ...

Monteitis,
I took my '03 G 35 to my local mechanic and after he told me the battery needed to be replaced he checked the starter. He told me the starter was fine but he recommended I replace the battery before the temperature drops into or below the 20's again. The battery was 40 months old from Costco. I took it back and got 60% credit on a new battery. Since I replaced it there have been no problems starting at all.
I had cleaned the terminals, posts and put my battery charger on it, must be my charger isn't working properly.
The starter as a rebuilt is about $180, and as TollboothWilley said in earlier post it is suppose to be a fairly easy repair. I suspect it will be in my future, but with 93,000 on the engine it still has a little time left. Good luck,
