From Cheston, long time maxima owner and owner of a TS tuned turbo 350z

http://my350z.com/forum/tuning/51089...reflashes.html

Quote:
Techno Square Inc. will no longer be offering ECU reflashes due to the recent employment decision of their current engine tuner to leave the company.

Last year was a hard year for Techno Square.. their President and lead fabricator (Richey Watanabe) passed away due after a long and arduous fight against Pancreatic Cancer. As the company struggled to recooperate and restructure, the Engine Tuner decided to pursue other career options in Japan and here locally.

Howard Watanabe, (Richey's brother), the current owner of Techno Square has decided to now concentrate solely on engine building, race chassis preparation, and installations, however he no longer has the ability to offer engine tuning services. Techno Square is also working with Right Hand Drive Japan to help with their importing and legalization of RHD vehicles..

Steve Mitchell, who is a good family friend of the Watanabes (Steve, formerly of M-WorkZ fame), will soon be heading up Cobb So Cal as a manager, so hopefully something can be worked out [as far as Engine management is concerned]... but effectively immediately, TechnoSquare will no longer offer reflashes.

That really sucks and it's sad to hear about their owner. I shouldn't have waited so long to get the reflash. Dear God, now i have to consider the Sprint Booster to improve my car's throttle response Honestly, this makes it far easier for me to consider moving on to a different car now.

Jeff, you might want to post this over at Maxima.org because a lot of guys use/want TS for reflashes.

Don't you dare leave us Dave. AAM still does the reflash. I believe it uses the same software, etc. as the Technosquare flash.

Eventually all doggy-door owners will wire up a piggy back or else will swap to the 2004 ECU & wiring harness if they decide to tune.

I thought the sprint booster is a bunch of BS and just tells the computer 50% throttle when you are at 10% ?

This move really eff'd me over bad. I had been in contact with Technosquare to get my ECU reflashed, and he messaged me last week saying the guy was back...I said "great! I'll call ya next week and get it sent out"...only to get an email this week saying the guy left and they aren't doing ECU reprogramming anymore.

I had the box sitting out, full of packing beans with my anti-static bag ready and then get told I'm SOL...FML

The reality is that the rare-ish 2003 doggy doors are only getting more rare and represent a smaller and smaller market. I'm glad I got mine done. It was one of the better mods I've done. I wish I had the 3.5 / 3.7 to comment on how this mod compared to the TS flash.

Damn, well I talked to them on the phone about a month ago, and they said they still offered the flash service.

Ok, that just means we need to look more closely into a solution for easily swapping to the 04 ecu
see here: https://g35driver.com/forums/tuner-d...chnical-2.html

and/or (even better) start working with OpenECU so we can all tune without having to pay out the nose for Osiris

The interior quality and the oil consumption has me disapointed. All of my interior panels are peeling. wth?

Might look into a Pontaic G8.

I had a couple instances of the vinyl pulling from the panel, but that was fixed with a little with some spray adhesive. My G only consumes about 1/4 QT every 5K miles which is what my old VQ30 did. Overall, my 03 has been terribly reliable. I'm just really sad that I can't get any sort of tuning done. Luckily, the ECUs in these early cars seem to be more adaptive.

How many cases of VQ35 Maximas and Altima have you seen where they lost power with exhaust mods? Nill. Most of them either tune marginally with a SAFC, the TS flash, or do nothing. There are lots of 250+whp VQ35 Maximas running around with just SAFC tuning. I'll probably go with the Blitz 3-stage throttle controller simply because I want a slightly more responsive pedal even if it costs me $300. Dskyline seems to like his.

I love my car and after some thought, I'll probably stick with it. I just bought my wife an 07 Outback in October and I need that paid off. Hopefully a new job prospect with about a 20% raise pans out here shortly. Replacement cars I was looking at was the new STI or WRX, EVO GSR (5MT), a 2003/2004 330 ZHP coupe, 04.5 G coupe 6MT, or even an 07/08 Legacy GT Spec B. G8s are nice, but I want something I can auto-x with and the G8 is even bigger than the G.
