sqeaky brakes or something else
ok so i am 17 and recentally bought the car from my dad as he upraded to a range rover. and he didnt take the best of care with it. i am trying to figure out some of the problems b4 doing any other things with it. Anyway i notice that there is a pericing sound whenever i back out of my driveway. i mostly only notice it when im in the driveway haha. but it is this loud peircing sound coming from the brakes. He had replaced the brakes 2 months ago and hasnt been under heavy braking at all. im just wondering. is it the brakes, brake pads, or somthing else, could it be wheel bearings?

Do they only squeak when you're in reverse? Brake pads wear grooves into the rotors over time. Many mechanics have told me that when you're in reverse the pads are basically rubbing against the grain they've dug, producing a sound. This would be a sign that your rotors have been well-used, but aren't necessarily in need of replacement just yet.
I also agree with Antonio. Especially if the car has been parked outside or it's a moist day, it could simply be dew or dust that has accumulated. When I park mine outside, it always makes a little noise the first time I hit the brakes.
Factory brake pads have wear indicators that squeal when they need replacing, but they would squeak every time you hit the brakes, all day long.
And congrats on the G.

I am a bad boy. I don't always lubricate the contact sliding points and the contact points of my brake system, I only lube the sliding pins. I don't notice any squealing noise. As long as there is a shim or two on the pads, they shouldn't squeal. If squealing persists even if you use shims, you can try lubricating the backing of the pads and the shims. If that doesn't help, changing the pads may help.
I have installed many cheap brake pads for other people. As long as I apply a thin layer of brake lubrication on the back of the pads, they don't squeal. The only pads that I could not cure the squeals on are race pads.
