There is a 2nd start for sure, for low traction/ winter conditions. Almost all autos now a days have a 2nd gear start for that reason

^Don't you have a "snow" mode? Engage that and see if it starts in 2nd.

Just to clarify:

1) You've lost 4th and 5th completely and the tranny makes no attempts to upshift to those gears?

2) Does the tranny behave any differently otherwise?

3) Any codes?

4) Did you reuse the old valve body?

5) Have you done ANY electrical work to the car (ie stereo, grounding kit, instrument lights, etc.)

6) What year G35?

7) What year 5AT did the replacement come from?

In the FSM, there's an entire section on how to inspect the 5AT if it doesn't want to shift from 3rd to 4th+. Assuming the tranny drives normal othersie, my guess is your TCM is flaking out.

its 03 g35 sedan production date 03.02 it will upshift throught all gears including 4th and 5th just fine nice and smooth too but 4th slips over 2500rpm and 5th slips and revs right up without picking up any speed the minute i apply any throttle the new tranny was matched to my production date the valve body from the old tranny was not reused they used the one from the new/used tranny but there were some codes that popped up with the old tranny and the tranny shop cant clear them so im thinkin its still acting up cuz it doesnt recognise the new tranny cuz these were the original problems i was having in the first place so for this other tranny to have the exact same problems is almost impossible i hope i didnt leave anything out

i also installed subs in the trunk a long time ago never gave me any problems tho

The fact that replacing the tranny is still resulting in the exact same problem leads me to believe the problem is not the transmission. I would think it would very rare that you'd get a used tranny with the exact same problem. I'm leaning towards an issue with the TCM or the wiring harness. Did you take the car to Infiniti to get their opinion? Infiniti or Nissan are the only ones I'd just if I was having transmission trouble. The trannies are complicated and you really need the Consult II computer to read what's going on and the FSM to trouble shoot. You also need a trained Nissan tech to trouble shoot.

the tranny shop has done tranny jobs on g35's before so i figured he would know what hes doing

the tranny fluid was burnt bad and i got to see it all ripped apart so it was for sure toast it was even blue on some parts of the metal due to heat

but i think ur right infiniti will be the ones to figure it out

well i have the results a open circuit (break in wire) from the TCM to the tranny fixed that but it destroyed the used tranny like it destroyed the original the shop is replacing the tranny free of charge and fixed the problem free of charge

im not 100% sure but i think its the turbine censor that the open wire was affecting
