Got rear ended Tuesday night...

No pics, cause they're really not necessary, but it had been raining all day long and we were taking my little girl to gymnastics. Sitting at the stoplight (about 4 cars back), I look in my rearview and saw this bright yellow Celica coming in hot. I said "Oh No" and hit the gas in hopes of either giving her the extra space needed to stop or at least lighten the impact. I think I might have gotten 5 feet or so, the WHAM! Did a quick kid check, everyone's okay. Saw wife was fixing to turn into the girl from the Excorcist and I calmed her down and told her to stay in the car (She's quick to fly off... me, not so much).

The good news: My brand new Nismo rear lip (authentic) is still sitting in the box at home.

More good news: Took it to get an estimate and the bill is $800 for replacing the rear bumper cover (non-aero) and paint, because it took a few small chunks out of the poly cover (below the paint line, in the black part) and merely spiderwebbed some paint up top.

My Nismo lip will cover up the minor damage (it will still need to be repainted to take care of the spiderwebbed paint) and I'm okay with that.

Thanks yall. That is the most important part. I'm surprised her airbag didn't deploy, but maybe the glancing hit, coupled w/ me moving forward prior to impact softened the blow a little. The girl had a good looking late model Celica (you know the one w/ the factory body kit and big spoiler). It boogered up her front bumper pretty good. That's why the back of my sedan was hit so low.
It did bend the bottom of my license plate (military) a little, so I am kinda ticked about that.

Woah! Kudos to you for quick reaction. Probably could have been a lot worse.

Thanks again, guys. I saw her coming from a little ways off. I had already gotten ready to move up if needed (I had a pretty good space cushion behind the car in fron of me). Poor girl was scared to death when she got out of her car. I'm sure she just saw her insurance premium go up instantly.

How the hell did she not see you? lol

Glad everyones ok and that your car wasn't hurt! If it was my car, I would have held my guard and hoped the impact was enough to total it out haha Top dollar for the G ftw!
