Yes an 8.5 +38 will fit easily, no problem.

Fit yes, but the wheel won't be hubcentric to nissan hub. May/may not cause vibrations. See if you can get an adapator to make it hubcentric

^Missed that part, good catch Jeff. I was just paying attention to the width/offset.

how about same with a +45? I know 38 is probably the most recommended but is 6mm enough to make a big difference?

They will fit but they will be more sunken in and would look funny.

Im not sure on the offset of the oem 17's, but yes they will fit similar to the stock wheels. I would go with the +38 or lower.

+1^^^

You'll need 66.1 to 73.2 hubcentric adapter rings. eBay has a good selection, I got a set of polycarbonate rings for less than $10. They're good quality as well.

How many rings should I order for each side? Should I run spacers to widen em out a bit? I found a local brand new set for dirt cheap. Otherwise id go with a wider rim.

One ring per wheel. The rings will reduce the center bore from 73.2mm down to 66.1mm to fit the Infiniti hub snug.
Depending on which offset you go with, you might want a small spacer.
I would put them on then decide on the spacers.

Taken from the FAQ thread:

"Q - What size wheels does my stock sedan have?
17" 5 spoke (03-04 Sport)
Front & Rear: 17"x7" (+45mm) (5x4.5 or 5x114.3) bolt pattern

17" 6 spoke (Sedan std)
Front & Rear: 17"x7" (+45mm)

17" 7 spoke (Sedan X)
Front and Rear 17x7" (+45)

18" 5 split spoke (05+ Sedan optional)
Front & Rear: 18"x7.5" (+45mm)

Q- What size wheels will fit on my sedan?
The most common upgrade is to 19" or 20" wheels.
You can run the same size all around or staggered where the rears are wider.
(*Caution - the sizes listed below are estimates and may still rub depending on camber and height of your car)
(*Caution - it is not good for the AWD system in the X model sedan to run staggered wheels unless you remove the AWD fuse)

For the same size, an 8.5" +35-40mm rim will fit all around.
For staggered the rear size can be up to a 9.5" +45mm before modification is required. You can run a 10 or 10.5" but it will need to be higher offset to clear the inner fender.

Many people shave or roll their rear fenders in order to fit a lower offset or wider wheel. With the rear fenders rolled you can fit a 10" +40mm wheel with a 275 tire and -.5 degrees of camber or more.

You can go with lower offsets and/or wider wheels if you add in more negative camber and run smaller tires but do this knowing you will wear out the tires faster. There have been members go with much lower offsets and very stretched tires/negative camber so don't take this as an absolute but more of the "normal" setup."
