Staggered Wheels On an X
Staggered Wheels On an X
Sorry for the Noob question. But i was wondering if an X owners out there are running staggered offsets on there car. I heard it could mess with your awd but im not sure.
I just picked up an X a couple of weeks ago and so many people have told me this i havent got on here to research if its true. Im going to go out on a limb and say as long as they are say 18" all around its fine cant go 19" & 18" tire sizes would have to be the same also.
Overall tire diameter is the key. You want the wheels to rotate at the same rate, so whatever tires you run need to have the same outer diameter.
You could run 17x7 front wheels and 20x10 wheels if you wanted as long as the tires you put on the wheels have the same overall diameter

depending on the offset you can go with a 235/35 and 265/30 if they are more aggressive go with 225.35 and 255/30. I believe you can even go 235/35 275/30

Like they have stated above, just keep the overall diameter the same front to rear. I good example would be similar to what I used to run (popular combo). 19x8 (or 8.5) in front and 19x9.5 rear with 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear. If I recall correctly the front O.D was 26.07 and the rear was 26.02. Play with a tire calculator and see what combos you can fine for your wheel.

You really want to keep the O.D front to rear as close as possible. Think of it like a 4wd truck with 31" tires in back and 33" tires in front, not going to work too well in 4wd because the rear tires will spin faster....I think there is a little wiggle room, you will have to search to find out what others have gotten away with.
remember diameter not width.
