Not sure about the VIN but there is a Mfr date
This can be found inside the driver side door pillar area on a white sticker. It also says Made in Japan.
Mine is 03.5 and is mfr 10/02
Just keep in mind that 04.5 are actually mfr late 2003 or early 2004 and 04 are mfr. mid 2003.
