Is the car still under warranty? There isnt really a way to check for oil consumption.

Make sure the hood moves smoothly, if it stutters or catches at all, the hood hinges may be shot.

Regardless, once you have it, get fresh white lithium grease in the hinges. I brought mine back from near-death with lithium grease when it had caused the hood to rub against the fender.

Watch out for the burning oil issues.

Keep an eye on the transmission and the synchros (grinding into 2nd, losing 5th).

Also, make sure to run up the revs merging onto the highway or something.

My wouldn't rev all the way to redline. The dealer said it turned out to be the crank sensor & replaced it (not the REV limiter).

Funny, that was the car I was looking at before I got my G35, but it sold right before I left to take the test drive.
Bought the G, and then the saleman called back saying the buyer's financing did not go through, and the TL was back up for sale - I had to tell him "sorry, too late"!

def check the clutch fluid for contamination. There is a huge thread on here regarding "sticking clutch pedal and burning clutch smell" it's an easy fix, and can avoid damaging your clutch if you catch it soon
