Paid 100 dollars to have car towed to shop...
Shop told me it would be 600 to replace the starter...
Got in touch with a guy who said 300(part included) sounded so much better than 600 i just went for it lol. Someone here on the forum said if i brought the part they would do it for 200, hell i even think that's a little much from what i see now

Yea its a lil high, the longest partof replacing the starter is getting the car up in the air (if you don't have a lift).

Sorry --- excuse my ignorance here, but why would i want to buy a used one? wouldn't it be dead? or is it kind of like, 'refurb'? thanks.

Would rather pay $100 for a used starter (that still works) than $300 for a brand new one that may still have the same chance of failing.

The $300 is for a new one at the dealer which would be OEM. Mine lasted me a long time and it finally died at about 170,000 miles. Bought a new one at the dealer and replaced it myself in the parking lot. Didn't even need to tow the car.

my car had an intermittent half to one sec delay on the start - sometimes it'd start good, sometimes it would lag. but nonetheless, it would start every single time. i worried it would stall on me someday so i took it to the shop. alternator was good. changed the battery, nothing. they ordered a used starter, installed it, starts like a champ!!! oh yeah, good thing was the entire cost was under $100. Win!!!

Just bought mine for 120 and replaced it myself. Taking the old one off was easy, putting the new one on was hell!
