Transmission grounding wire for AWD

So my transmission grounding wire has been sitting around for a while waiting to be put to use. In Sean's instructions it says to attach the grounding wire to ID tag on the trans. The only problem is that the front driveshaft is in the way and it is nearly impossible to get a ratchet or a wrench to that location. Any ideas or pics of where other members have attached this wire?

note: mods please do not move as this is relevant to first gen sedans

I know many won't agree, but....

Doesn't matter. Transmission is bolted to engine so if you put any ground wires on the engine already, then you've grounded the trans too. Another wire on the trans won't make a difference.

I installed the stealth version of Sean's kit on my 2004 G35X. The transmission wire was a complete PAIN IN THE A$$!!!

You have three options:
1. Don't install it. If your shifts in manual mode are quicker than before installing the rest of the kit, be happy. If you don't notice any change without the transmisison wire or you are OCD like me and must install the complete kit, go to step 2

2. Attempt to connect the wire without removing the drive shaft. I did manage to make it work but it took two sets of universal swivel socket adapters, multiple sizes of socket extension bars with the socket locking features, and a mirror and flashlight to see around corners. Patience, beer, patience and more patience.

3. Or just bite the bullet and drop the drive shaft. Honestly without a lift this looked more difficult to me than step 2.

I don't regret installing the transmission ground wire on the X even with it being such a pain. I definitely notice a HUGE difference in snappier/quicker shifts in manual mode with the full kit. Before installing the full kit, manual mode was on occaision for me, mostly for downshifts. Now with the kit I'm always in manual mode except when I need my second hand to fiddle with the GPS, phone, etc. No regrets! But what a pain!

Good luck!

I don't see any way possible it would matter... If your worried about it find a bolt somewhere easier to get to and bolt it to that... Its all connected so it would not matter.

Thats just my .02

I agree, that's why I was asking if anybody had any alternatives.

A little late coming to this party, but here's where I bolted mine. This is on the driver's side.

thats where I ended up attaching mine. I took off that whole bracket, cleaned the metal on the trans with a dremel and sandwiched the bracket over the wire.

Mine goes from the top back left of the engine down along the firewall diagonally to the driver's side of the transmission. It's not easy to put it on the transmission (see my pic), but it's the best place I could find. Like cc123pm, I had to remove the bracket, including snipping the zip-tie holding the black cable on. I used a short bolt and nut to connect the grounding cable to a hole in the bracket, then re-attached the bracket to the transmission.

It's a pain to attach it to the AWD tranny, but it's definitely worth it. Crisper shifts for sure.

^ looks like a second generation sedan... the issue was with the first gen because there is nowhere near as much room.
