Compressor Disconnect

Hi All,

I have the very common center console circuit board malfunction. It has caused the radio to be stuck off and ac to be stuck on.

Being a college student (read broke) I can live with this, however I need to get my vehicle to pass smog and it will not as long as the AC is on. How do I go about temporarily unhooking the compressor so the car will pass.

currently fixing the center console is out of the question financially speaking.

Thanks !

Try this before you do anything else. Smack the console pretty hard on the driver's side. As funny as it sounds it has worked for a number of people on Driver. If it works it might only last for a little while or it could last for a long time.

I would think there should be an AC fuse you could pull to temporarily disable it. Check your owner's manual for the location of the fuse.

yeah just pull the fuse, AC fuse would probably be by the driver side right next to the parking break on the wall.

Thanks for responses guys.

I will definitely try hitting it tomorrow.

I already tried looking for the fuse in the drivers area. The lid doesn't have the AC fuse listed.

Anyone know for certain where the AC or Compressor fuse is?

I appreciate it.

There is the fuse box in the drivers kick panel. THere is a also a box with fuses and relays in the battery compartment. check both. Additionally, there is a wiring harness plug that is located on the bottom side of the AC compressor. You could unplug that temporarily and it should keep it disconnected.
