Airbag light flashing

I've tried resetting it and the dealer has too, to no avail. Turns out it's my side driver's side airbag.

1. Is it worth trying to repair this DIY?
2. Will the frontal airbag still work?
3. The dealer wants about $700 to repair.
4. Can any reputable non-dealer repair shop fix this?
5. Where's the best place to purchase the part?

Thanks in advance!

My 2006 G35 has been at the dealer for a week now for a Air Bag flashing light. It has 137k miles on it & is out of warranty.
The drivers side air bag module and sensors have been replaced on previous visits for the same problem going back to 2007 when I was still under warranty. They are going to replace a wiring harness that involves removing the entire dashboard.
I have a 2011 G25 loaner with 4k miles on it.
I really don't care how long it takes them to fix my G although I miss my 6 speed manual.

That makes me a little scared to spend $700 for them to replace the module and then have it be a wiring harness. This is the type of issue where you just keep throwing money at the problem with no solution materializing. For now, I'm just resetting the light when it starts flashing.

Same thing happened to me except my dealer wanted $1300 to fix it. I was only 10 days out of warranty so filed a claim with Infiniti NA and they agreed to fix it since we had had 3 Infinitis by that time and were planning on getting a 4th.

Any tips when talking to Infiniti NA? This is our 5th and I'd hope they do something for me. I had seat motor go bad and they refused the repair.

Be nice, be professional, speak with Infiniti Customer Service, and speak with the dealer service manager. If the price is high offer a reasonable proposal between Infiniti, the dealer, and yourself.
Good luck

Angry Airbag Issue

I too have had the same problem. In August 2010 I had an appointment with Infiniti to complete the OPEN P0339 G35 SAB Connector ITP 10-034 recall. The day before my appointment I was involved in a accident hitting a deer on the front right passenger side. The airbags did NOT deploy in the accident. The vehicle may not have deployed the airbag, or a sensor malfunction could have happened during the accident due to the airbag system not be correctly installed and still in need of the recall. The vehicle was repaired and returned with nothing done to the airbag system by my insurance company. I then made another appointment with Infiniti Glencoe to complete the recall. The recall was completed on 11/19/2010.
After this recall I have had my airbag light come on, every time it has rained. I had been resetting the light by the key-lock position. It would go off, and stay off until it rained again. Once it rained again, the light would turn back on. I had another appointment on 2/2/2011 for service. However that day was the Chicago Blizzard and I was unable to drive the vehicle 95 miles up to Infiniti Glencoe for the appointment and most places were closed due to the treacherous conditions.
My next appointment was scheduled for 3/3/2011 instead. On 3/4/11 Infiniti of Glencoe diagnosed the Passenger Side Airbag and Module as faulty and needing replacement. Total cost was $785 discounted to $704.00. I picked it up on 3/9/2011. On 3/19/2011 the airbag light came on AGAIN! I dropped the car back off to Infiniti Glencoe the same day driving 95 miles one way and 95 miles back to drop it off. On 3/21/2011 they have now diagnosed the Driver's Side Airbag as the fault.
Ever since I have had this recall completed on this vehicle I have had problems with the airbag system in this car. I cannot accept that BOTH front airbags and modules just so happened to become faulty for no reason on a 2004 Infiniti that have NEVER been deployed. I've contacted Consumer Affairs to have them deny my claim over and over again. Infiniti Corporate has been extremely rude and unwilling to stand behind the product they manufactured.
I need help having this problem taken care of. I cannot drive my family around in a car with a faulty airbag system and risk killing us in accident due to Infiniti’s neglect to stand behind the parts they’ve manufactured because my airbags may not deploy. My insurance company has also been involved and claims the airbag issue is NOT related to the accident. Can anyone help? I'm ready to file a lawsuit.

I got my car back last Thursday.
So far, so good. No more flashing air bag light.
I was originally quoted almost $2200.00
I called Infiniti Customer Service which was kind of a waste of time. They told me because I had 137k miles on my car there was nothing they could do. There was a record of my previous visits to the dealer where they replaced air bag control modules, sensors, etc.
I hung up, called the dealer back and spoke to the service manager. I told him could not afford to pay $2200.00 .
I proposed splitting the charge in thirds. I offered to pay one third, I requested that he the dealer pay one third, and asked him to contact the Infiniti customer service fmanager for them to pay one third.
I got a call back the next day with him stating we had a deal.
I'm not too thrilled about having to pay $740.00 inc tax but it was certainly better than $2200.00
I still love my G

I post another thread, but I'm in the same boat as this guy. Out of warranty etc...

I have never done anything to cause my airbag light to come on. I have the recall on the passanger seat wire harness because I had a solid airbag light.

What should I do? I really dont want to get in the situation where I am dumping thousands of dollars into a situation that might not get resolved. Should I just sell/trade the vehicle to the dealer if they request something rediculous for the repair price? I'm really not in love with my g35...I was at one point, but $5,000+ in repairs on a $12,000 car (most was when under warranty thank god) really makes you lose love.

I would try consumer affairs. Depending on your history with Nissan/Infiniti, they my agree to the repair. Have you had the dealer confirm what exactly the issue is?

No but when I was in for the recall repair he mentioned that my squib cable threw a code and that it will probably need to get replaced in the near future. He quoted in the thousands, which i have heard is unreasonable in the past (from this forum).

That is step one I know. It just started this morning on the way to work. I'll make an appointment to bring it in.

I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but Ive been down this road before. I guess my question is, and you are probably the best person to ask since you have experienced this, should I even begin this journey and throw money at a problem that might just continue being a problem, or should I just nip it in the butt and buy a reliable car?

+1 on the seat wire harness.

Where the cabling meets the driver's side seatbelt.
Mine had snapped the connector from me moving it to much and the airbag light kept coming on.

Replaced it myself, $74 from Nissan, reset the code and never had this problem again.

It was driving me nuts until I figured it out. Hook up a console and it should tell you the code anyway.

Check this out if you haven't already.

That was done a few years ago under warranty.
The flashing air bag light problem was a 5 time repeat problem over a 4 year period. In addition to the connector, the air bag module and a sensor have been previously replaced. After the 1134 code kept repeating the flow chart called for replacing the entire wiring harness. So far after 1000 miles, no more flashing air bag light.
