I get 320 on tank,,, and fill up usually 17 gals..... 80% highway but early mornings so i go 80-85mph... ... rpms are 3.2K+ so i guess it is normal,.,,,
anyway to get it better??

Jeffzoom 03-22-2011 11:22 AM

Well, I guess it's tradition time!

Best I've ever done on a long road trip was 24mpg @ roughly 420 miles a tank...that was with about an hour run around the 95-100mph range...I have the ticket to prove it!

The only mods I'm rocking is an Amsoil Drop in, and normally midgrade gas, being a poor college student sucks the balls of the almighty.

With that said if you do highway at 70-75 (Orlando->Jacksonville at that speed was the hardest thing I've ever done) I've found my max theoretical range is something like 600 miles since I can go about 150 on a quarter of a tank. I've considered doing more intake mods (already a rev up, so just the tube methinks) if it'll help gas mileage.

P.S. Did anyone else start skipping gears when gas when up? Second and forth are dead to me now lol

I dont see how everyone get such low gas mileage

I drive mine 350 miles and its at roughly 1/8 of a tank

Almost all high and always 65-70MPH

no mods or any crazy ebay chips

mysoda 03-23-2011 03:27 PM

what? 350 mils at roughly 1/8 of a tank??
you meant 1/8 tank left??

blazeplacid 03-23-2011 03:32 PM

..yeah

When I bought my sedan from the dealer, they filled up the tank... It lasted me two weeks on my daily routine... Then, two weeks after I got her, I put on a coupe mid-pipe and my tank only lasts me about a week now... :dunno:

The best I've gotten out of my G is well over 400 miles (mostly freeway) - I'd estimate it to be closer to 500, but I didn't keep track...

Measuring miles/tank is near-meaningless.

Fuel economy is measured in Miles per Gallon.

Measuring miles per tank is the most accurate way to determine you mpg... but it's not as simple as just filling up and then checking how many miles you drove the next time you fill up, you need to measure how much gas is left by filling up again and use that number to get your average. But all in all, it's a simple procedure.

And I don't think the leaf on the GPS is that accurate.

I drove 50 miles city, and 20 miles highway and filled up 3 gallons. That's 23MPG :D

^That's not what I was saying.
I get what you're talking about, that's the exact same way I measure MPG...
What I was saying is, it's near meaningless when people start saying "I get xxx miles on a tank" because of the dumb fuel light that switches on between 16-18 gal on a 20 gal tank.

For example:

Person 1 fuels up right when the fuel light turns on at 16.5 G, and his car gets 20MPG
Person 2 fuels up around 19.5 G and his car gets 21MPG.

Person 1 posts that they only get 330 miles on a tank but person 2 posts 410 which looks like a lot more, but in reality it's only 1mpg.

Yesterday I drove 50 miles city, and 20 miles highway and filled up 3 gallons. That's 23MPG on a G35x. I also did the Q-Tip remedy on the fuel senders yesterday, so it's accurate :D

Any numbers on a turbo 4 door sedan? Without being in boost, it should be roughly the same correct? If driving normal, should the car be averaging 20-21? It should get a bit better then an NA car right?

This winter I averaged 12 mpg through 6 trips to the gas station. this includes 600 highway miles. now the weather is warming up and its up to about 14 mpg city.

5150DS 04-05-2011 07:36 PM

I drive 110 miles a day round trip to work. I get 3 days, 330 miles, out of a tank with 1/4 or a little less left over. So I would guess I get around 400 miles per tank, while driving 80 mph on freeway. I drive pretty hard with an HKS rear section and z tube for my listening pleasure.

iamtimshady 04-05-2011 07:47 PM

Ive get between 21-22mpg in mine no matter how easy or hard I drive, all city, all hwy, or both :shrugs:
