I've slowly modified my driving technique. I'm now getting about 24-25mpg highway with my car.

But keep in mind my driving is maybe 95% highway about 25k miles a year. So I get a lot of time to try different things out.

Firt thing I've learned...60MPH seems tp be the sweet spot...and use cruise control. I get my best fuel economy here. Bump it to 70MPH and it drops to 22-23 MPG...80mph and not you are barely pushing 21MPg. Yes, it sucks to do 60mph...but doing 20mpg highway with a v6 sucks more.

I slightly over inflate my tires (but monitor wear) keep my car empty of crap and only fill tank halfway (to keep light) and change out the air filter frequently. I need to do my o2 sensors soon and see of that helps out too.

I get about 14MPG on my G so im gonna have to start replacing alot of things on my car.

Im probably gonna Seafoam my car b4 i change my plugs, and then im gonna change all my O2 sensors. And im gonna reset my ECU aswell, and drive it really conservatively. I have a K&N Filter thats alil over a year old, would it even make a difference if i went back to OEM? Anything else i should do while im doing all of this?

Im super jealous of the people getting 19+MPG

Yes, get your foot out of the throttle body! But then you wouldn't be having so much fun.

That's the key right there. Drive like there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal and mileage will instantly spike up

I was getting about 360 miles per tank before I put on my full 3" exhaust and testpipes. Just this past weekend I put 435 miles with no other mods! Of course, I forgot to put my airfilter in for the entire trip lol. I expect a few more mpt once I change my plugs. To anyone who says they get anywhere near 500 I'd have to ask if they have a jdm cluster that reads in kilometers instead of miles lol. I couldn't fathom that many miles as I put almost 50 miles on after the light came on.

It helps the comparisons if members are posting up the area they live in - altitude can make a fair difference in gas mileage.

I average 22MPG in the Houston area.

wizid1: Your tank is closer to 80l from bone dry. But you're right, the DD models have pretty impressive economy if you're careful.

Well I have a whole JDM car and can get 1000 or so KMs off a full tank if I'm careful and its mainly highway speed driving. I even hit 7.5l/100kms average on a long trip once (thats around 31mpg).

Bone stock 2002 5AT 300GT with the VQ30DD - direct injection is great when its working properly.

I didn't realize the 300GTs were Direct Injection! That's pretty sweet

What RPM have you found shifting at achieves the best mileage?

I'm auto, somimlet the trans do the shifting.

But I've found in other manual trans cars I own that the sooner I shift, the better it gets.

05 6MT, 106k miles (average about 17k/year), oil change every 3k, spark plugs replaced at 100k.

Lowest I've ever had was 16mpg, highest was 24.6mpg, and I average around 19.994 according to aCar app on my phone.

That sounds almost dead-on to what I see in my car, which has 125k, 03.5 AT sedan. Spark plugs at 80k, Mobil 1 every 5k. I can get up to 26mpg on driving that is 100% highway. An overall average I have always got on my car is around 19 - normal driving and commutes to work.

I've started watching mileage lately to see if it was time for O2 sensors, but it is still the same as it always has been.

pretty much spot on with what i found in my X. I dont drive as much as you do 9k a year and i'm 60%highway but almost same results. But i get 20mpg highway because i dont wake up early enough to get to work on time @ 60mph. :icon30:

Looks like everybody is posting realistic numbers, and there isn't any 'secret' to getting better gas mileage other than the normal factors (speed, tire pressure, etc).

On average I get around 25 mpg (mixed driving highway/city and spirited/normal). However, I have recently taken a couple 300 mile round trips. Both times I was able to get to my destination and back on 1/2 tank.

I live in Omaha, NE and the roads here suck. I also have breather mods on my car (intake, hfc's, cat-back). I'm right around 300hp at the crank, so to get anywhere near 30mpg is pretty good imo.
