My 05 sedan is at 65,000 miles, and I opened up my hood this weekend and noticed that my coolant was near empty. I purchased the car at 36k miles but never payed attention to the Coolant levels. And I suppose to lose coolant?

Has anyone had to refill their coolant ? And are you guys losing any?

Fill up when the car is cold, and monitor. Get a UOA done to see if its leaking into the engine/oil

^^^What he said. But no this has never happened to me. I check every time i change the oil on the car.

No the coolant level should stay the same for a long time, fill up the rad and fill the overflow up to the marks with a mixture of half coolant and half water.

Your coolant level should stay the same for years.

I just marked my Overflow to keep an eye out to see if its going down.

Used Oil Analysis....no, you should never use and coolant, it's a closed loop system.

I only had to fill my coolant once in the 8 years that I've owned the car.

its possible when someone refilled the coolant (if a coolant service was ever done) that they didn't fill it properly then.

Fill it up and check the hoses for leaks and check around the water pump and thermostat for leaks.

I'm assuming you're meaning the coolant overflow tank was low or empty. If so, yes, it's normal to those a very small amount of coolant that way. Coolant is 50%+ water so it does evaporate, albiet slowly when in the tank. As years pile on, you loose a little coolant this way. If the tank is low, just refill with distilled water. There's no sense in putting in a coolant mix.
