Window molding coming off

Anyone else have this problem? On my drivers side, the black rubber molding that runs up the side of the windshield to the roof of the car looks like it has "shifted" downward and there's a gap at the corner right where it meets the roof. I'll have to take some pics tomorrow.

Anyone had to fix this?

OK, here are the pics I was talking about...

And here's what the other side looks like...

Hmm, I have to check mine later after work. Can you push it back up and tap it back in?

I've been a member here for 2 years and have never seen someone with this same issue. Looks like one side is sliding down, what does it look like at the bottom?

Although it *looks* like it slid down, it doesn't appear it can be pushed back up at all when I try. The bottom doesn't look bad, it's just a little loose. But the middle part that runs up the car appears to be in place.

This is why I'm stumped...Not sure what I can do. Maybe see if the dealer has this piece and try to replace the whole thing myself?

I'm gonna dig up this thread. I've had the same problem, along with the whole roof molding degrading. It's as if they got too hot and rippled up and shrank from the top side that runs all the way to the back. I don't think it was designed to take the heat that is on the surface of a black car (as we both have). I've seen it on a lot of cars here locally. The few G's that have shown up in the junk yard even had them taken already.

Surely there's more people that have the same problem?

That could be the case. My car was not garaged then. Now it is though.

I ended up finding the replacement piece at a junk yard and got it fixed.

I'm missing that cap piece between the moulding. Guess I'm going to try to start looking for junkyards in the area.

Unfortunately i've been unable to find the part I've looked a fair amount for it, the body shop was able to order it but the part alone they wanted something like $800. Mine has been messed up for 2 years.

I lost mine on the passenger side and the dealer told me $283 for it which I thought was bad enough. Haven't had a chance to look at the junkyards yet but I will NOT pay $283.

Are these the same all the way through 2006?

I did assume the body shop I was at was getting ripped on their own price, even they laughed at the price given to them (It may have been something like $400 for each side, they could have been mistaken and it was for both). I've taken the piece out completely, I have no idea how it can even be priced at the $283, it's a strip of plastic.

My thoughts exactly. I was expecting $50-$75 for it.

They're like $150 at the dealership a piece... Not sure why the one place was trying to charge you $800, lol.

It cost me $50 at a junk yard and they installed it for free also. Looks exactly the same as the other side Just find a G35 in a junk yard and have them take the piece off for you. I'm sure this part never sells so it should be easy to find.
