I was looking under the engine bay and noticed few bolts holding up the plastic under engine splash guard were missing. I bought some M6-1.0x 25mm bolts and washers and tried to bolt them up through the holes where the bolts originally used to be, but there weren't any threads or a hole for the bolts to bolt onto. Anyone else experienced this or is there suppose to be a nut or something to hold the bolts up?

In one hole, the bolt is there but it's hanging half way out. I tried to unscrew it but it would just spin and would not pop out. I would just leave it since the splash guard isn't dropping down and touching the ground, but since I know it's missing some bolts, it's driving me nuts. Hope someone can help.

 

There's threaded metal clips in and around the bumper that allows the screws to fasten. I'm guessing your missing a few of these. Its only plastic that holds those clips in and they tend to break. I had to remove my splash guard because of this.

 

I took the damn thing off.

 

Thanks, I guess I'll pick a few of those as well from the Nissan/Infiniti dealer then.

 

Check the lip on the back of the bumper first to see if the clips can still be installed/used, the lip may be damaged to the point where the clips won't stay in.

 

Actually the holes where the bolts are missing are on the passenger side towards the back where the center engine splash guard overlaps with the right side splash guard.

Maybe instead of buying the bolts and a threaded metal clip, it might be easier to use a long, plastic bumper clip instead. Or I guess I can be ghetto and use tie-wire instead.

 

The right side splash guard hole was torn, thus the missing bolt and threaded clip. I used plastic tie-wires to resecure the center and the right slide splash guards. A cheap and quick fix.

 

Ok, thats better then being the front piece I was thinking of.

Thanks for the link. I actually need those too. Now if only I could find the part number for the little rubber piece on the bumper that connects to the splash shield.

Its on a stock bumper. Its to keep the bottom of the bumper from scraping. Or do I not need it with the metal shroud?

I don't remember that part, and now I don't have a stock bumper or splash guard/shroud thingy.

 

I figured that why you didnt know what I was talking about. Only for us stock bumper guys.

Edit: It seems like most people with an aluminum undershroud dont even use that piece.

 

Where'd you get the metal shroud? That looks awesome! And the hatch for the oil drain plug looks like it would make things much easier.
