Pfft! What a messy "cut off"

 

the area in which the bulb sits is identical on both headlights, its identical in shape and size, if i can get a pic i will show you.... there was no glare at all last night and i didnt get bright lighted by anyone on backroads or the interstate

the bulbs are 6000k only because i couldnt get 4300k.... and yes they were just warming up

the quality and fitment is excellent the only thing i suggest ( which i did ) is to run a good bead of clear silicone around the sealing edges of the lights to ensure a proper seal

i will try to get a good cutoff picture later today

based on what you said, you bought ebay halogen headlights and moved your hids to the new ebay headlights because you wanted the black housing??

Hopefully you used your old housing, since it will protect the heat better, because the ebay housing is not meant for hids..

idk man but no i simply swapped all of my factory HID stuff to the ebay light and installed the ebay light onto my car.

I DID NOT MODIFY THE EBAY LIGHT IN ANY SHAPE FORM OR FASHION OTHER THAN REMOVING THE WIRING IT CAME WITH AND INSTALLING MY FACTORY HID WIRING, AND RUNNING A BEAD OF SILICONE TO ENSURE A PROPER SEAL!!!!!

 

Not true.

HID's and halogen bulbs have different focal points. The actual point of where the light originates is difference between the two bulbs. Because of this, the reflectors need to be slightly different to accomodate this.

The difference may be so minor you cant tell when compared side by side, but there is a difference.

Definately cannot tell by looking at them. I'll have to take a closer look. I think I still have a set of halogen reflectors at home. At first glance, they look the same as the HID reflectors.

Nice write-up OP. One question though. Why didn't you also swap the reflectors from your HID to the Halogen housing? Then you could of retained the use of the OEM D2R bulb for you low beam. IIRC, the mounting points for the reflectors are the same.

 

Papa: the only reason i didnt do that and just ordered a bulb to fit the halogens is because i really didnt wanna tear apart the new headlights and just to see if i could do the swap in all honesty.

i originally ordered the bay lights just to swap the black bezels and new lenses and then decided just to do what i did

 

i promise to get a cutoff pic tonight and have it posted by the morning as i work third shift.... if i get up early enough ill take one before i leave for work

this may help.. i took it when i was checking to make sure they were aimed properly using a reference i made with the stock headlights before i removed them... its about 4ft (i know i need to be farther) from my garage door and at an angle. this is also with my fog lights on as well, when i get a better pic i will make sure to have the HIDs on only:

 

Gotcha. I like to tinker too. I just usually don't have the ***** to go through with half the stuff I think about though

My experience with doing he bezel and lense only swap is that the lenses don't quite seat all the way down onto the OEM bases so the need for a sealant is definately needed.

Hey OP, I also got the black housing lights. But i didnt go through the hassle of swapping bezels and reflectors, but i did install the HIDs on mine. I also agree with you that there really is no glare. Ive let friends drive in front of me and even driving in opposite direction and they say that they dont get blinded by my headlights. On stock headlights people would flash or move out of the way for me. I bought the 35w HID kit, so its probably not as bright.

Also, have you noticed any moisture in the headlights? I got it the first few days but now they are gone. Most likely i would need to make a better seal around the rubber gourmet.

 

i didnt swap bezels or reflectors, i just swapped my factory HID ballast, igniter and wiring harness to the new headlights ...... but as far as the moisture...... i havent noticed any yet but i also ran a good bead of clear silicone around the edge where the lens seals to the housing so that might have helped my situation
