To give you an idea of the power of the LS1 in this car, it is exactly as fast as my 08 sedan 6mt hahaha

That's cause it's a slushbox and I had more weight

^Don't feel too bad. You and Janik could drop 2grand each in your drive trains, and the sedan wouldn't even be close

My 94 TA was an auto, but at least it had V8 grunt like crazy. Then the 2000 6MT WS-6 was waaaaayy more fun to drive.

I can tell you one thing though. The 5AT in the G absolutely PWNS the stupid 4L60e 4AT in the f-body platform. Granted, it's no 6MT, but the Nissan auto is leaps and bounds ahead of the old GM slushbox.
l460e= failed transmissions
3800 series II and III are sold engines though and will outlast the transmissions most likely twice

Your dad wouldn't let you get a 4-door mature sedan and instead made you buy a RWD Firebird?

Wow...that's the total opposite of what you usually see.

Haha yes my dad is pretty interesting to say the least.

He was kind of fed up with me looking at mt g's as we spent a lot of time driving around looking at some and I never pulled the trigger cause I'm too picky.

That's very easy to fix in the LS1 cars. My friends 99 A4 2.73 car went from 13.7s@103mph to 13.2s@107mph with a set of LTs and tuning.

Here's my favorite local LS Z28 in Kansas City.

If you plan on selling it, just enjoy it in stock form and don't do anything to it. They're a little harder to find not all beat up and the color will help it sell fast. It would be great if it were a WS6 with a t56.

Oh this is what I plan on doing. It's killing me to leave a car stock, but I know that is the thing to do. If it were a ws6 with a t56 i would keep it haha. If this was a t56 I would keep it. I just don't enjoy driving an automatic at all.

Here what you should do....

keep the car
spend $3500 on it
enjoy your automatic that runs 10s.

From 1996 to 1999, I had a modded 94 Z28 A4 with the 2.73 gear. At that time, the 4L60E was one of the better driving autos out there. It was pretty responsive and shifted firm. I liked it for a while, but a 6MT would have been more fun because the auto gears were so damn long (1st to ~55mph, 2nd to ~90mph, 3rd to 150mph, etc). I got rid of the Z because of the ill city mpgs and the 1990s GM build quality.

After the Z, I had a modded 96 Maxima 5MT. I've had my 5AT G for nearly 6.5 years now. I will say the 5AT in the G is one of the more responsive autos I've driven and I rent LOTS of cars, trucks, and SUVs for work. It's sad that so many 2011 autos still feel completely disconnected, "muddy", unresponsive, etc. The 5AT on the G feels eager. The 04.5 5ATs are even better. I'm sure the new 7ATs even more so. I do miss a manual on occasion, but not as much as I thought. With the Z28, the long legged 4AT did get a bit boring. Not so much with the G. It's well geared (especially with the 3.54 gears), has a good torque converter, and the paddle shifters I installed make it far more enjoyable. A 6AT with a really tall 6th would have been perfect.

The 5AT in my 05 was a really good transmission, and I honestly could have survived with another 5AT in the Gs, but the 6mt is also a lot of fun in these cars.

I just love the G for that reason. It is so practical, and yet very fun to drive!
