G35 Sedan V35 2003-06 Discussion about the 1st Generation V35 G35 Sedan

Indecisive: 18" or 19", no lip but a little concave... for a sedan?

I've ridden in 4 Gs that have 20s and the ride is harder and rougher than my 19s. However, 3 of them are slammed and one isn't, but they all have rubberband small sidewalls. I think that's my main complaint with them. I'm running 40 series on my 19s and while they are rougher than an 18 my ride feels like a Cadillac compared to my friend's 20s.

It doesn't look like a 19" rim because the spokes terminate into blocky rim lip therefore making the circumference appear smaller.
Absolutely correct. I get asked all the time if my rims are 20s because the spokes originate at the lip, then concave in.

Key word there is "rubberband sidewall". If I were running a 30 series tire I would probably complain too, but I run 35 series so my sidewall height is probably close to what you run. 3.4-3.5". Of the 3 sets of 19's Ive had I notice no difference between them and my current 20's.
Yes, I agree compared to 18's (which I also run) the ride is harsher and not sponge like. My car feels squirmy when I have my 18's on.
Not sure if it matters, but my rear tire is tucked a little and the front has no gap. So I am also lowered.

Good points, I haven't ridden in a car on 20s running a 35 sidewall. I suppose I should do so before I pass judgement eh?

Where in WA are you from? I gotta get a test ride on those 35 sidewalls.
But how is handling when your wheel is at least .5" taller than OEM?
It doesn't really affect the vdc since it's still <3% right?

I'm sure I've seen you on the road as there aren't much modded sedans..at least that I've seen .

I am a little north of Seattle Bothell/Mill Creek area. How about you?
Handling is fine. I havent really noticed much if any change compared the the previous sets of 19's I have ran. I run 245/35F and 255/35R which is only 1% different in favor of the rear tire so VDC is happy.

Its all relative. Many good points have already been made in this thread. It all comes down to wheel style and what YOU want. 18's allow for more tire for a better ride, or can allow you to have seemingly a more aggressive stance. 19's in general will look best, but tire prices may scare some away. IF you know where to look, 19" rubber can be had for reasonably low cost, even compared to 18" tires. Try to match another users setup to your own liking, whether it be wheel/tire size or wheel style. Theres a lot out there, you just have to spend some time browsing this section.

VERDICT

I bought 19's yesterday. I found some tires for a decent price and was able to get my hands on a nice light set of wheels. The offsets/widths aren't crazy, but they're something I can throw 10-15mm spacers behind and have them looking good.

Thank you all for your advice, I'll post some pics when they're up.

Not yet. Wheels will be shipping early this week, but I'm going to ATL for the weekend for work. I'm not sure when they're going to get put on.

Soon though!!!

You won't regret it. 19s give an overall aggressive look over 18s.

haha, that's my car. here's how she sits now, although there are some pretty big changes coming this Summer. the F14's seem to meet your criteria pretty well though, also take a look at the Forgestar CF5 and Five:AD R5:F
