Indecisive: 18" or 19", no lip but a little concave... for a sedan?

Before you say "why isn't this in the wheel/tire forum," it's because I'm looking for V35 sedan specific answers. V35 Coupes and V36s have huge arches. making 19" a no brainer. V35 sedans... not a lot of bulge.

I've seen lots of 19s with lip on V35 sedans that look great, but I haven't seen any flat faced 19s. 18" flats/concaved look great to me, but I can get into the 19s for not much more money.

I've been searching for months for pics and have joined a couple of other sites looking for answers that will sway me one way or the other. So far, not too much luck.

Last thing I want are 18s that look dinky or 19s that look like wagon wheels.

Before you ask, the sedan is lowered 1.5" all around. If anything, I'm aiming for 'sorta-flush' or 'kinda-flush'. Can't go lower as I have to cross steep train track ramps at work and I already scrape my belly on them. Last thing I want is to get stuck on them... it's happened once this year to an unsuspecting customer in a C6 Vette. Not cool when the tracks are still active.

Is this a noob question? Yes. But I can't seem to get answers anywhere else. Pics, thoughts, comments, post them up here. I'm hoping to order them by Memorial Day.

The 19s may not be much more for the wheels themselves but the tires will cost you a quite a bit more. Personally I prefer the look of 19s way better on a Sedan vs 18s. 18s only work on dumped (3.5"+) Sedans IMO.

I just bought some Forgestar F14 wheels which are pretty concave (depends on the width and offset you get).

As for 18's or 19's, most people on here seem to like 19's. I prefer 18's myself because they're lighter and the tires are cheaper, as well as making the car sit lower (which makes handling better) without dropping it more. So, I'd go with 19's if you want looks and don't mind the extra cost, 18's if you want performance.

My vote is also for 19's. They look really nice on the sedan.
What kind of widths are you looking for? A square set-up or staggered?

I run 19's on summer tires and 18's on winter tires. Both look good with the right drop since the outer tire diameter is the same. Just use one of the web tire calculators to get the diameter right with your wheel & tire combo, matching to OEM diameter.

As for flush, my 19's are aftermarket and fit perfect. The 18's are the sedan sport wheels with 15mm spacers to fit right. No rubbing on either.

What kind of wheels are these? Can't say they look familiar to me.

^^^ I'm going to guess that those are XXR 527s. I looked at those myself.

What kind of widths are you looking for
I'm running the same size all around if I can simply so I can rotate the tires. The 18s are 18x8.5, the 19s are 19x8.5 with an option to run 9.5 in the rear if I want to wait for them.

I just bought some Forgestar F14 wheels which are pretty concave (depends on the width and offset you get).
I was also looking at those. Any pics of them mounted up?

I'm usually not so picky about wheels; hell, I built 3 sets of BBS RSs and 2 sets of BBS RFs for my old GTI. For some reason, I really want to get it right the first time.

I'll get some pics of the wheels I'm looking at... gotta go searching.

Mine are still in the process of being made. I'll post pics up when they arrive though. Here are some pics of a sedan with some:

Had to search through 2500 pics to find a car that was about the same size and color as mine, but here goes...

19x8.5 Rotiform BLQ. I loved these when they first came out, but wrote them off b/c they were 5x112 only. I just found out about a month ago that they started making 5x114.3s.

If only they weren't 28 HEART BREAKING POUNDS A PIECE!

Those wheels look to busy for my taste, but its not my car. To many x's which makes the center look odd imo. The angled pic looks good though.
So you would rather run the same size front to rear? I was just trying to think of tires sizes. What offsets?

The main difference between running a 19 and 18 falls on how much tire you want to see, the side profile. You can run a 18 with a low side profile but that will make your car lower which works on a +3" drop. The sedan and coupe came with 18's and a +1 in size makes a big difference in appearance.
