brake replacement

At my 24,000 km check, the dealer replaced the front brake pads and turned the rear rotors at exhorbitant cost. I don't drive the car particularly hard, but most of the driving is city stuff. Is this common and should I expect to have major brake work every 24,000 km (15,000 miles)? That would be pretty disappointing.

This should have been covered under the brake warranty, I assume by the 24,000km you are in Canada, that warranty came around even before the US warranty did!

Re: brake replacement

All brakes are covered upto 60,000 KMs or 3 Years which ever comes first. Here's a link to the letter in the FAQ and TSB Section:

Re: brake replacement

My G isn't here yet but my experience with my 02 Maxima brakes (same parent family) is I had a bit of vibration at highway speeds on brake application with 50.000km (30,000 miles) on the car. They checked brakes, machined front rotors and told me if it still acts up they will replace rotors under warranty. But they work great now. I hope I am treated the same way when my G arrives. This is in Ontario, Canada.

Re: brake replacement

If your doing mostly city driving then that probably means your are braking quite a bit since there are stoplights, stopsigns, etc. If your were doing mostly highway driving you'd be using the brakes a lot less. So the 15K miles with mostly city miles doesn't really surprise me.

Also there's a bit of misinformation in this thread. Only the '03 and '04 6MT coupes came with Brembos. As of '05, there are no more Brembos with the 6MT coupe. And the brake warranty that last for 3 years or 30K miles only covers '03/'04 sedans (AT and MT) and '03/'04 AT coupes. So if your car falls under one of these categories you should be able to get reimbursed for that brake work assuming you had stock pads and rotors at the time.
