My 1st DIY Oil Change :)

I finally did the oil myself for the first time, and it was GREAT SUCCESS!
I'd like to thank these guys for posting up the video. If anyone else is trying to DIY their oil change then you should watch this video!

I think in the vid that's not OP but Eugene (bythabay). I hear they work great for washing dishes, too, LOL! But srsly, I've watched lots of his vids to see how to do stuff, he does a great service to G owners.

Congrats to OP on taking the first step. Reminds me of 20 yrs ago when I first learned to change oil, then other fluids, then this and then that and before you know it, you're a decent shadetree mechanic. Keep it up!

I couldn't agree more, I've learned a lot from him. OP you should look into these before your next oil change. I have one and love it. It's a cheap way to make your oil changes even easier.

I have one and it freaking rocks.........

Yess I love it! Also, I love doing everything myself because no matter how professional or good someone is at whatever it is they do, they will never take care my things (car) as much as I do.

Thanks for all of your guys' support.

OP... you don't have to remove the entire undershroud, just the 2 bolts at the back end and you're fine. Slip your hand in there and you can remove the filter and drain the oil. Like Blue Dream, I've been using the Fumoto Valve now for around 10 years. I run a small hose to the valve and drain it into a 35 gallon container.

Good job!

Does that valve lock closed? In that pic it looks like the valve is open, but then when you turn the lever to the the left it closes the valve and the lever drops down and kinda "locks" closed. Does that make sense? If thats the case I might have to pick one up.

Once it's closed, I use a clamp just above the little clip that opens/closes it to make sure it stays locked and isn't accidentally opened.

Here's the link for the valve:

Good luck and hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I removed all of the bolts from the front and left the back ones on and just spun it around. I didn't have much room as it was. I was using one jack, and it was on a sloped street haha. But I still managed to get the job done.

It was my first oil change, so next time for sure it will be a breeze.
