Please tell me that was a jack stand and not your regular jack.

Never too late, just do it on your next oil change. Keep in mind that some oil shops will not change your oil if this valve is in place... claims of liability issues. So be prepared to do oil changes yourself if necessary.

You know how often those jacks fail. Holy crap dude, you were also on a slopped street double holy crap. Dont be dumb buy your self a ramp, or jack and jack stands, or if anything bare minimum, put one side of the car on top of a curb(if you have enough ground clearance), the curb should not fail lol.

IMO, dont do anything again until you buy ramps and or jacks + Jack stands.

If you do that **** again and the car falls on you and kills you, you will win the Darwin award.

I need to direct my friend with his 2009 Maxima to this thread. He believed the dealer who told him the oil can only be changed by the Nissan dealer because it uses a "special" type of oil.

 

I know I need tools! I was in dire need of an oil change so I used what I had. I even had to ask my neighbors around. But thank God nothing happened and it went well.

Sorry bro, but an oil change does not justify getting crushed. Should just use the money you saved with this oil change, and buy ramps. Later on the proper tools.

Eventually youll start DIYing a lot of maintenance. But you need the proper tools, you wont kill your self and still save money.

Those of you are are using the valve, are you still able to use/replace the OEM crush washer?

 

I did but I'm not sure I was supposed to. The valve comes with a rubber gasket but so far I've had no leaks.

 

With the umoto valve you never remove it--- it's fairly permanent, so it's a non-issue. In 68K miles I've never touched it and have never had a leak. On our 3 other cars with a combined mileage of >1.2 million, we've never had an issue either. Truckers and farmers who rely on it also state that once it's on, there are no issues.

On a side note, I've never changed a crush washer before going to the Fumoto valve... very rarely necessary.
