Opinions on High Mileage G Sedan

I have never seen a white G sedan in person so that shows me they are a little rare, if that. Anyways, I realized that as a senior in college the last thing I need is high car payments lasting me about 4-5 years on top of college loans.

I was originally in the market for a 2nd Gen Sedan and I got the green light from my parents to pick one and they'll put a substantial downpayment and i'll pay the rest off. But I felt like I wouldnt be ready financially yet so i weighed my options and looked into high mileage 1st Gen Sedans. I decided just for sh*ts and giggles to go to a dealership within walking distance of my house and test drove an 04 G Sedan they had on their lot. It had 132k miles on it but was extremely clean with the exception of rock chips on the hood. It drove like a new and didnt have any weird vibrations or rattles/noises. This goes to show me that these cars are super reliable and long lasting given the right TLC and maintenance.

So i did some G searching and I found a white 04 G35x with 123k miles on it which looks to be EXTREMELY CLEAN from the pictures. The leather looks very intact no scratches or rips and there are no scratches visible nor dents. Another plus is that it was a 1 owner vehicle with no accident history (according to carfax) so that says a lot as to how the previous owner babied this car. Yet another plus is that this is being sold at an official Infiniti dealership so I feel more secure buying from them.

It goes for 9.4k and I think i can get it down to at least 8.5k maybe 7.9k before tax. The point is (and this for the G owners with high mileage) do you guys think I should jump on this offer given its price? I plan on buying an inexpensive G, drive it for about 2 maybe 3 years all the while saving up and building my credit so that I can trade it in and go all out and buy something really lavish like an '11 FX50 or '11G37. THis is my plan for the next 2-3 years.

Please help me guys. Here are some pics.

P.S. I've seen what some of the guys on here have done with their IP Sedans. That was motivation enough for me to look into this. They look so plain when stock but after that mod bug hits (I already have a list lol so Im already bitten) they really look great. I have some great plans for this car already!!!!!!!

you should have the car checked out (there is mobile services out there.. like 30-50 bucks tops), check the bushings and stuff, check kbb for trade in price on the car and roughly thats what the dealer paid. look to get it down as much as possible.. coming from an infiniti dealer u have higher chances of picking this up at a bargain since not many people will look at this.. plus im sure its in the back of the lot behind all the 2nd gens.

Good luck!

132K miles is not really high miles these days. Most cars can easily do 100K with very little maintainence.

With that said, check the car out to see if maintainence has been routinely done. I'm sure if this is at an infiniti dealer, they have made basic needed repairs and service.

Ah yes, the mod bug bites us IP owners really hard... We're still behind BS owners though... those fools do full color changes all the time

As far as high mileage goes, I wouldn't be afraid of it on a G.

I bought mine at 99K miles (rolled 100k on my way home from Tampa) and it's sitting at just under 131K right now.

I just got back from taking it up to NC/TN to beat the crap out of it down twisty mountian roads, and only had one issue... the service engine light came on......... because I forgot to tighten the fuel cap so really, 0 issues.

The car has been mechanically VERY sound, and I've only had a few scattered problems with things like the radio (issues very common to these cars)

Take a look through this thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...-g35-here.html
It'll make you quite confident about buying a high-mileage G. There's been a few guys post up in there with over 200k, a couple over 1/4 million

i just passed 100,000 on my 06. Feels brand new after new bushings in all my control arms. Good financial move on buying the 1st gen over a more expensive 2nd get.

Oh, I forgot to mention...
The X is nice to have for snow, but if you plan on doing a lot of mods (Lowering, Stance, etc...) it's a lot harder to get stuff because there's a lot of things for the RWD that won't fit the AWD, unfortunately.
